LYRICA (pregabalin) now controlled substance in US -search my previous exps on Lyrica

I was prescribed this med at 50mg 3x daily and I had such a bad reaction, I blew up like a friggin balloon! swelling in the legs and ankles so bad it was painful to walk. I could not put my regular clothes on, I had to put sweats on. My legs would not fit into the pant leg.

I talked to my Dr and he really wants me to try and ease into this med. He seems to think it will be greatly benificial for my back pain.

I am now going to try 50mg once a day with HTZ for edema and see what happens.

I never got close enough to even yawning let alone feeling good...lol

^^^well they do list that as a side effect. Not happening to me though....at least yet.

Lyrica! Wow

It should be marketed as the new viagra for women. That's all I have to say about that.

Yes, I'm finding pregabalin to work wonders for my anxiety. I can now take less benzodiazepine (which is saying a lot, as I'm pretty benzo dependent- what w/ 7 years of continuous usage- right now I'm down to 10mg Valium, 3x/day).

With (for me) about 150-200mg of Lyrica, I can get by on 20mg/day of the Valium, or sometimes even 10mg, when taken w/cimetidine.

With regard to the expense/ins. coverage issue, see if your doctor has any samples that they could give you, because as of late, many MDs have a lot of samples of this med (since Pfizer is pushing this med pretty hard right now) currently (my doctor gave me 2, 100ct., bottles of the 75mg capsules, from the sample closet...so, you could probably get a healthy supply of samples, as most doctors are more than happy to give out samples, if you mention that "it's really expensive, though, and is not covered by my insurance, but I'd like to give it a try...").

And, mark my words, this med will be a godsend to people actually suffering from neuropathic pain. I've heard only good things at work from people w/ diabetic peripheral/autonomic neuropathies, to patients with fibromyalgia neuro-muscular neuropathies...and a very close friend who has quickly advancing diabetic (he got type 1 diabetes when he was 11 years old- he is a very brittle diabetic...the doctors are surprised that he's still alive at 39, but anyway...) neuropathies, and if he says that a medicine is working for his neuropathy, then I know, that it will be a great med for these conditions. As well as a great adjunctive med for people suffering from the various epilepsies...:\

One more thing

I was actually prescribed it for my neuropathic pain.. it's viagra-like effects for me as a female only happened to be a benefit.

It will cause lesions in the splenial area of the corpus callsosum.

I know this, because it happened to me. Luckily the lesions healed. Its due to glutamate/calcium influx.

How did you find this out? What are the effects of these lesions? I take neurontin daily (have been for years) and I worry of it doing something similar.

Been going for almost 2 months on this shit and i still feel like im on some really light fluffy motivationally/emotionaly energetic strange synthetic methadone all day long. Only no side effects and very warm clearheaded high/euphoria. Far more so than methadone at times.

I have to say its wierd feeling this good without being fucked up. Its almost gotten better instead of developing tolerance. Also more of a productive, social, and empathetic drive to it where opiates tend to make me want to do nothing, veg, and leave me apathetic, unproductive and stoned.

tip: dose every 12 hours for optimum effect. redosing doesnt work very well, not abusable at all like an opiate or a benzo even tho it feels like both of them together. ALSO, more is less. Doses like 600-900mg that you read are just gonna give you a headache and make you feel like shit. Start at like 100mg, then work up. I worked up to 300mg every 12h and im loving life

Would there be any kind of interaction between Neurontin and Lyrica together? Would they increase each other's effects or would neurontin cancel out some of Lyrica euphoric or anti-anxiety relieving effects?

I think they should potentiate each other.
If I had some Lyrica left I would try right now...
Can anyone try it for me and tell me how it feels? (not too much, just 900mg Neurontin/Gabapentin and 150mg Lyrica/Pregabalin)

I was prescribed neurontin for a year, and they had me up to a pretty significant dose. then they changed me to Lyrica, and now I'm on the biggest dose of that for the past 6 months.

anyways last month I found one of my biggest neurntins in a bottle and I took it along with my usual daily dose of 2 lyrica. BAM, I was floored.... twice as strong as I ever remember neurontin effecting me at least.

So neurontin and lyrica DO have a synergistic effect.... interesting. Fanch, what is the biggest doseage of lyrica you can be prescribed (in the U.S.)?

Also, anyone know what the max doseage of neurontin is in the U.S.?

I get prescribed 150x2 per day, so 300mg a day total. they were pretty eager to hand it this out to me at the dr office. It's tough to find a pharmacy that carries these pills, mine usually has to special order the rx, which sucks.

I have a huge pile of Neurontins and a huge pile of Lyricas 100mgs too. but I want to mix the two , but I am working and not on vacation till july . oh well. yeah there's the weekend , but I have a lot to do. how floored am I gonna be ,?? able to get up the next morning ? or sleeping like a meth crash ? hmmm.

I have been on Lyrica for anxiety fora couple months now at 400mg a day. I sometimes take more then that as well. The drug works great for anxiety and depression together....but only for about a month. As jasoncrest said in other posts: The effect goes away. It does make for a good potentiator now though however for benzos and opiates. Also above 600 mg if taken with any other downer type drug will destroy your memory and leave you feeling really loopy and off balance. just my 2 cents.

I've got mucho lyrica. 25mg capsuls. I've taken 15 and felt little more then like...one drop of mid quality (3g/ml?) GHB.
