LYRICA (pregabalin) now controlled substance in US -search my previous exps on Lyrica

I don't think that tiagbine (a GT1 GABA reuptake inhibitor) would feel like pregabalin. Pregabalin is similar to a number of other GABA-mimetic compounds, like baclofen, gabapentin (Neurontin), beta-phenyl-GABA (phenibut), beta-hydroxy-GABA (GABOB), gamma-hydroxy butyrate (GHB), et al. It is ((S)-beta-(sec-butyl))-GABA, so it is similar to gabapentin and phenibut (lipophilic, active GABA derivatives), but since it is single-enantiomer, it is more potent per dose (I'd imagine). I would be interested in trying it, but it is extremely pricey.

^that's what i was wondering.surely they classified with the benzos as a class IV.I can't imagine it being a classIII drug.Possibly a class V though.Shits pretty weak with very low abuse potential.I can find out tommorrow.

This tcluna seemed like such a Lyrica guru i just knew they'd know.

IMO,it's a waste of scheduling a drug. Soma should be scheduled before this shit.

I have a script for this now. It's schedule V. I tried taking about 400mg, and I felt like shit. Totally out of it. Didn't feel anything like the poster says it does. Maybe just me, but I won't be doing more than indicated anymore.
 
We all knew it would go this way. Still, it sounds possibly a good, productive substance for some people. I am interested in it.
 
I'd imagine, that, like Neurontin, it would have different effects from one person to the next. Many people who see the same doc I do, said that Neurontin worked wonders for them, but it never did anything for me (Neurontin), except make feel really "spacey" & "out of it".
Now Lyrica, on the other hand worked like a charm for me (so far anyway....soundphaRm "knocks on wood").
In fact it worked great...:\
 
Anyone know if Lyrica is out in Canada yet? Or Neurontin? Infact, what is Neurontin even, is it used for anxiety/panic at all ?
 
Ok guys you just are not using it right. Its like the first time you take a benzo ever, you fall asleep and cant do shit. You need to get over the hump. Then you feel so light and free on this drug. Bah. In time, this drug will grow in popularity amoung the recreational scene. I dont need to defend how good it is if used / titrated properly.

Like i said when i made this thread, i knew it would start getting attention, and now i see it bumped and some reports. There will be more, as more people get it.

^ any idea on how the withdrawls are? GHB sucked dick to withdraw from IMO.
anyway i should get my hands on some, sounds like sweet stuff.
 
I've been using it almost everyday for a few weeks...

It's really a WONDER DRUG for anxiety. I really suffer from anxiety, and I take 40mg diazepam/day for that (+24mg Bupe, + a hypnotic benzo + clonidine...); and when I take 600mg Lyrica (pregabalin), I'm sure I will feel really good all day, very desinhibited....

I only have 50 150mg Lyrica pills left... I told my doctor I didn't want it anymore, because it costs too much (not covered by the insurance)...
So I will use it only when I have a hard day...
 
actually it does have serious withdrawl if you do it abruptly. pubmed.com pregabalin splenial edema. this can happen with high dose neurontin too.

never w/d from these drugs abruptly after chronic use. Lyrica is like a combo of a benzo and opiate and alcohol and GHB withdrawl in one. It will cause lesions in the splenial area of the corpus callsosum.

I know this, because it happened to me. Luckily the lesions healed. Its due to glutamate/calcium influx.

These are highly potent spinal level glutmate blockers and gaba B agonists (at some area) and they hit dopamine somehow too.

People who dont like it, i just dont know... the pamplet says that one of the most common side effects is "feeling of elation" "euphoria".

I suggest titrating up to get past the sleepy effect. Also it interacts and competes with opiates, but also syngizes with some of them. Its a very werid drug but im telling you, the higher dose you go, you feel like your walking on clouds and as light as a feather, highly social, stimulating, yet sedating at the same time, NO pain anywhere and euphoria comparable to GHB and XTC.
 
my doc has upped my prescription to 2 x 150mg lyrica pills per day. at 300mg total I feel like I am floating. I am very pleased.

the most important part is how easy it is for me to fall asleep on these now. gosh, I hope so at least... look at the time... wish me luck.

I do feel sort of happy, spontaneously, which is nice. no doubt this drug makes my evenings a lot more chilled :D

Yep, got some today. my doc Rx'd me 75mg 3 X a day. So far I have taken 2 75mg doses and I find it is pretty nice. At that dose feels like a nice mild pleasant anxiolytic with slight sedation. great for my anxiety. Hope it works well for sleep. Combined it with some codiene and a touch of Oxy and definitely no pain. This could be a very interesting drug...at least for certain people . Seems to level off anxiety pretty well. Hope there is no tolerance build up with it.
 
I can't wait to try pregabalin--it sounds like the perfect substitue for lorazepam, which doubtless I have been taking too much of lately (I believe avg. 3.5 mg / day as 0.5-1.5 TID). I have taken beta-phenyl-GABA, beta-hydroxyl-GABA and gamma-hydroxyl-butyrate and all are anxiolytic to a certain degree, but pregabalin sounds cleaner and non-sedating.
 
Well I can tell you that after day one on it I slept like shit. I slept but woke up feeling like I didn't get any restorative sleep (which is my problem in the first place). I will continue with it but it does seem to have a sort of strange sedative effect while at the same time a mild stimulative effect.

Very similar to my first experience with Remeron when I started at 30mg when the doc told me to start at 15mg. Except that was much worse.

Also similar to GHB for me. At first it used to knock me right out for 4 hours then awake with the dopamine influx thing. After a while it didn't work anymore for sleep. It gave me that weird sedative and stimulant at the same time experience.

So IMO the jury is out on this. But it definitely has psychoactive effects.

ask your doc to do a prior authorization. He can send a note into your insurance company saying it's really helping you and other options wont cut it and are very addictive..and possible your insurance will then cover it. They did that with some of the non-covered meds i used to be on.
 
^^^that might work but you should be aware that the pharm co.(Pfizer(sp?) I believe) states that it should be withdrawn slowly by taper . This may imply that it is physically addictive. However, I believe they were talking in the context of using it as an antiepileptic. All drugs used for epilepsy should be withdrawn slowly or the risk of seizure is greatly increased.

If used for other purposes it likely will still have a "discontinuation syndrome" consisting of insomnia, depersonalization and all that other pleasant shit that normally accompanies withdrawl from something that alters your brain/CNS chemistry.
