Dissociatives [Ketamine Subthread] Intravenous Injection (IV)

^^^ You can snort it. IMO this is wasteful, but the easiest way to guage your dose.

You can eat it, but that would be like eating Cocaine. Yes, the high is better, but you must have loads of cash to waste...

I will probably be experimenting with rectal administration in the future and I will report on how that goes.

I have yet to try IM. It is funny because I feel more comfortable with IV than IM.

I would say that, if you are fast enough, you will always have time to pull out the needle and disinfect the site before it hits you when you take it IV. But a sitter is definitely recommended as posters above have, since when it hits you, you will become incapacitated.

I have to date IVed Ketamine three times, and found it similar to DXM that way in that it is very euphoric but not too psychedelic at low doses, and vice versa at higher doses.
 
Jamshyd>> Same here took me a long time to get over my fear of IM it... IV was never a problem... I really did'nt like the idea of sticking the needle a good way into my leg...
 
For the record:

I have experimented a few times with intravenous ketamine and I have found that a high dose will take 10 - 20 seconds to start to take hold if it is adminstered at the wrist/hand.

I recommend extreme caution though. A couple of times I didn't get the alcohol swab quick enough and ended up forgetting where I had injected.... That could get messy if you still have the needle in....

By far my favourite method of administration of ketamine!
 
IV ketamine is one of teh coolest and most life-changing things i have ever done in my life.

i know i've read somewhere in erowid perhaps? about why ketamine isnt used in adults, and is only used in children and old people... the k-hole experience as reported to nurses and doctors isnt seen as a "good" thing from a medical standpoint. hallucinations are NEVER considered good in the medical profession, as they are almost always 'BAD' side effects (with regards to the general public). persoanlly i agree too. if i dont want to hallucinate, hallucinations are an unwatned effect.

I don't think I'll ever put myself through the whole snorting process again with ketamine.......

I still do not understand why IM ketamine is more widespread than IV ketamine. Possibly because there is a less of a stigma associated with IM injections?

The onset/duration of IM isn't much different from insufflation. The after-effects seem to linger around a lot longer with IM though. IV/IM is a whole lot less painful too.
 
It's not an instant smack as its made to be. Though I don't have experience with K, I do with injecting. From the forearm it takes a good 8 seconds for it to hit you from when you start depressing. If you got alot of fluid or push slowly, yes, it can be a problem and a needle-in-the-arm problem may occur.

IV is said to be euphoric. Ketamine tends to touch on similiar receptors as opiates. IM is said to be more psychadelic.

I would love to try both. One for my love of IV, one for my curiosity with trying IM. This is the only drug, besides maybe any other dissociative like DXM or PCP, that I understand why it would be IM'd.
 
Soon enough. I can't wait. From the time you register, and begin the push, how long before it hits you, even if you're still tied off. (saying, a 1/2cc rig)??

Also, why doesn't anyone ever IV sub-K hole doses? I know plenty of people who snort K for recreational effects but not enough to go into a K-hole, so why don't IV users do this?
 
i have iv 20 mg before, but usually people that iv want the FULL effect, so they usually iv more

You may want to look at "olneys lesions" (erowid.com),lesions in the brain which have been seen in animals (monkeys)years after they were administered ket...i used k. i.m. and insufflated for years and like many others have had psychological/nervous system damage,damage which correlates with the reported lesions and behavioural differences seen..Be careful i.v. because that k will hit your brain directly.life is precious,dont become a ketamine ghost.lol truly8(

IV Ketamine

Alright, a very good friend of mine is back in town and I haven't seen him in around a year and a half, anyway I was telling him how my shit was doing (a whole lot better than when he left and I was a junkie, now it's been 3 weeks since I layed off the needle....even with pharm ampoules, I won't be shooting anymore for a long time, thanks to an insightful acid trip and requests from my girl), and he informed me of his shit, luckily it's all good and we both seem more mature down to earth towards our drug use now (as in not using everyday, not using anymore opiates except bupe in my case).

Nevertheless when I was telling him what was in my girlfriend's stash and I mentioned "a pharmaceutical vial of ketamine" he became really interested....we've had our fair share of experience with K (both IM and snorted) back in the day, but he told me since he left town he hasn't done any, he also told me since he doesn't knows how to IV and I'm the only person he knows who does that he'd die to try K intravenously, I tried to persuade him and tell him to go the IM route, but he's hellbent on IVing something, all the times I IV'd K I hadn't a glorious k-hole experience but was rather scary and amnesic (this was due to me being on benzos and opiates and prolly crack/coke most likely)....anyway I told him it'd work like an anaesthesic and all, and he was cool with it, so here are my questions.

What dose do you reccomend? I was thinking something in the 25-30mg range
Was my experience with IV K (including falling asleep with the needle still on....no rush or anything, just all fading to black) affected by other drugs? could he reach a k-hole with k administered via IV? he told me he's taking 200mg tramadol a day for back pain and as an anti-depressant, as far as I researched there are no problems with that.

He also may or may not be taking cocaine, if he is would it be a good idea to do a mixed shot so he feels the rush of IV coke before drifting off into K-land? (I know it ain't the best idea due to tramadol, but he has no history of seizures) if so I'd use more like 40mg K and 50-75mg coke of whatever the quality he has.

Thanks for all the answers reccomendations and experiences....oh as a final note I don't remember if my girl's microwave was working or not, if it ain't working I know the whole boiling pot and a pyrex dish inside with the K to cook it (since my girl and I will be snorting), generally I remember that process lasted about an hour fopr 50ml of K, we have 10ml now, I think I'm gonna use medium setting....but if her microwave is working I might not be able to resist the temptation of having it ready in 5mins, especially if I had shot my friend already, is it really that much better using the pyrex in the boiling pot than the microwave? I've had good results both ways, but some input is always welcome, we'll be candyflipping (had I known my friend was coming to town we would have bought 'cid and rolls for him too) well kittycandyflipping I guess, at which point of the acid/mdma experience do you prefer to take K (nasally, I guess it'd take me ~150-200mg to k-hole) ? During the come-up, when you're totally shitfaced, or for the comedown?

Most likely I'll be taking at all points and saving some (we have a 10 ml 100mg/ml vial) for the morning after...alright, sorry for the rant, all the info, especially on IV K and the questions regarding it I asked are really appreciated.
 
IV'ing K sounds kida silly to me. There's a limit to how much of a drug you can take and have it still be fun. Theres either a point at which you can keep taking as much of a drug as you want and it won't get you any higher -or- you take too much and pass out just like you described or you OD.
I just don't see the point in IVing K. How much more can that drug possibly knock your dick in the dirt than it already does? Is there anyone that LOVES IV K and finds it worth it to try?
 
i have never IVed k however i have probabaly IMed close to 40mls total since i started at least.

if he is looking for a real trip, why not use say 40mg but simply have him relax and you do his shot for him etc? that way if he k holes straight up uit doesnt matter, because your doing everything.

otherwise just go with what chub said

From an experience where I think I actually caught a vein in the muscle (was going for IM), so actually giving it IV (based on the amount of blood that came from the injection site), I didn't so much fall down a rabbit hole as be shot down one. All the usual signs from IM dosing that occur in the first 10 minutes were compressed, so as to be hardly recognizable, into about 30 seconds of 'what the fuck...' then I couldn't make sense of anything because of 'static' in my brain. At which point I assume my memory has decided it was best if I couldn't play that one back...

Another one of those,'wake up naked in the middle of the living room and not knowing why' episodes (might even have been the first one). Bit too 'flash, bang wallop' for my tastes - I like journeys and IV ketamine gets you there more like a Star Trek transporter. The path travelled is just as important as the destination

Oh dear, I just read back that last sentence and thought to myself, 'you need to get out a bit more...' =D
 
^ No it's that I chose to originally use that as the last few words of my post - taking myself too seriously again 8o ; it creeps up on you when you least expect it and WHAM you flip to the darkside and become a parody of your former self.

Replaced just as surely as if it were the pod people from 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'
 
Exactly how long do you have after the injection to put way the needle etc? When I IV drugs I never like to inject it very fast. If you do the injection over the period of ~10 seconds, will you be able to take out the needle safely, cap it, put it away, and sit down? I know when I injected 4-aco-dmt I had the hurry to put the needle away and in the process, somehow the needle poked through the cap and cut my finger. It was kinda strange actually.

I know i have read about people doing K IV style but how fast do you need to do it? I'm ust thinking safety wise because I have heard people express concern about hurting or endangering themselves because they were immediately incapacitated. It wasnt so dangerous with the 4-aco-dmt because I was still mobile but I would think a large k hole dose could knock you out and possibly make you fall on the needle or something. I guess you need a trip sitter???

IV seems interesting because im turned off by IM because it hurts a lot more IMO and leaves the area sore. IV is more involved but a more fun process overall! I know many others will agree/disagree but its not the time or place. I'm just wondering if you need someone to do the injection for you or not...any personal experiences?
 
With IV you have 1-3 seconds before your hit by the K train.

I prefer IM over IV because IV is too drastic to be able for me to produce an OBE. I try to hold on to reality, an can after an IV.
With an IM, it is smoother and gentle yet still powerful. With IM you need more K to get there but it is a nicer ride
