I'm extremely surprised that noone has been up in arms about the recent ACMD recommendation that ketamine be upgraded to Class B from its current status as Class C. It seems that this has come about due to the bladder problems it causes (no link's I'm afraid as I'm on my phone as it's too much hassle). This suggests that they are willing to tolerate tried & tested substances as long as no serious harm is observed. This is a great pity as I've never tried ket and now it looks like I never will as I don't move in the 'right' circles. Conversely, this should also imply that if novel substances (eg MXE) were to be properly tested and shown to do no significant harm, then they should receive no more than a C classification. However, this could take years and realistically will never happen.
