hey KD I too was recently prescribed nucynta for chronic pain. Ive had the pain my whole life as long as I can remember and nothings really worked so I'm doing pain management now. I was on tramadol before this and it is deffinetely a stronger opioid receptor agonist. the SNRI part does have a synergystic effect on the pain and its fairly effective. I take 1-2 50mg 3x a day and it was 70 bucks for me with insurance for 180. From what I've seen on other sites the going rate without insurance is like 400+ dollars.
I would compare 100mg to roughly 10mg oxy but that can be different for everyone. It seems more euphoric then tram for sure but not quite as much as something like oxy. However going off 100mg being about 10 of oxy I wouldn't say I've really taken a high enough dose for recreational purpose. Im sure it can be fairly euphoric in the right dose, I deffinetely noticed it when switching from tram. Im taking lyrica as well and it's been pretty helpful but I find I still need something regularly for breakthrough pain.
I'd say you really don't have too much to worry about if you were ok on the narco, it is a fairly strong analgesic, but nothing too crazy. Its also supposedly doesn't cause as bad of an increase in tolerance but thats debatable. If anyone has questions i'd be happy to answer them as best as I can.
Edit: By the way headache was the most common side effect I have been seeing on different forums. Personally I haven't really experienced any problematic side effects at all. If you're worried maby try a half dose first. Also it's similar to tram in that it has the SNRI but thats where the similarities stop, this is much more of an opioid.
