Jobseeker's Allowance Megathread ver. The Jeremy Kyle Fan Club

As far as I knew anything you earned would come off your benefits? You can work up to 16 hours a week but you will get £0 JSA (assuming your 16 hours pays more than your JSA would).

You can't do 15 hours a week & still claim a full giro. The giro will top up your wage to whatever your giro would have been, working will get you no extra money.

My reason for mentioning it is that it sounded as though they were getting less than the £70 a week or whatever JSA is from working, so signing on would give you that additional money so that between your job & giro you would have £70 a week.

I was told by someone doing an apprenticeship at the joke shop (god help her) that anything over £5 gets taken into consideration, and subsequently deducted from any benfits the applicant is in reciept of.

Shit. I stand corrected.

I think I'll keep schtum when I start work. At least for a while..

Just don't bother telling them, but don't go to sign on once you've started work. That way you can claim ignorance if you get busted & your claim will just stop because you didn't sign on. If you rock up to sign on while you're employed though you're kind of fucked.

I've never bothered to tell the job centre that I've started work, I've just stopped signing on.

Yeah. I've signed for a few more weeks before, when I've started work, just to get an extra months Housing Benefit, but I'll go easy with this one. The job is every weekend though, so I could potentially still sign during the week in my free time..

How many hours do you need to work to claim working tax credit these days? Is it still 30 or have they upped it to 35?

i think they will be dishing out digital food/bill cards instead of cash soon. be amazing to see how many people will start shopping for there nan if it happens.

I just read the other day that instead of crisis loans Birmingham City Council will be giving people prepaid cards that can only be spent in Aldi.

I'd rather starve than shop in aldi..

Fuck all wrong with Aldi, youve probally never shopped there though I bet. They pay there staff well, £7.80/h, graduate scheme to become a manager, 40k and company car, not bad really.

"£40,000 rising to £62,000 after four years
• Fully expensed Audi A4
• Opportunity for directorship within 5 years
• International secondment opportunities
• 5 weeks annual holiday
• Pension scheme
• Company healthcare"

7.80 p/h?! damn! good for them, shits all over my shitey wage!

and regardless of that, their food has a cracking range of stuff, and much of it is good quality.

and where else can you buy a chain saw, a spade, a bottle of brandy, bog-roll and a frozen pizza?

%)

Can't remember the last time I was in a supermarket for anything other than booze.

I source my food from better places, and while plebs may fail to taste the difference, a few of us do!

Too much blotter acid has diminished his senses, us meer plebs can hardly taste the difference, because there is none. Branded products are only good enough to touch his skin.
