Just an update on Grave of the Fireflies

From Madman..

Grave of the Fireflies Makes Top 100 DVD List

The movie Roger Ebert raves "Belongs on any list of the greatest war films ever made" has landed a spot in the top portion of another list. Anime favourite Grave of the Fireflies came in at No. 5 on USA review site, DVD Verdict's list of the Top 100 Best DVD Films.

Fireflies, a Studio Ghibli production, is the only anime film to fall within the top half of the list. It even came in ahead of many all-time classics like Citizen Kane.

Awarded 1st Prize in the "Best Animated Feature" and "Rights of the Child" categories at the Chicago Int'l Children's Film Festival, Fireflies, tells the story of two orphaned and homeless children who set out to survive on their own in post-World War II Japan.

Madman Entertainment is thrilled to announce that Grave of the Fireflies will be coming to DVD in Australia late 2003 or very early 2004.

As for Gundam Seed - its been cut to 50 eps and I have up to 49 on fansub, so in asnwer to your question, with only one eps to go, it will be completed ;)

Theres definately a load of films i want to see now from this thread. I think ive caught the anime bug. :)

Saw (most, have to see end) of Metropolis a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Have to see the end.

And i watched Akira the other night, was good, epic. All these films seem to have an epic sort of nature. Yay anime. :)

I'm not really sure about video stores that have a good supply of anime - I get all mine through fansubs and dvd purchases :)

Ahh...beeeeeautifull. Thx for that. I just watched vampire hunter D Bloodlust. Mannn....what a spectacular movie, I fell in love with each and every character and the animation was top quality. Can't wait to watch it on my proector.....mmmm.

Yeah Its great hey :)

One of the hunters reminded me of Gemma from Ninja Scroll??

and the chick was In the Animatrix short too !

Also, I'd like to rant on about how slow DVD Releases are....

Its taking me forever to get through Noir :|

Yeah, Madman releases one DVD for each series per month - depending on how many there are for a series (6 for Noir I think) it can take awhile - hang in there, Noir is worth the wait :)

Upcoming local releases (I haven't done this for awhile)

2 months for noir!

Vol 4 got release 10th of september :|

V5 12 November, V6 Jan 14th.

Is there another one after? I think ther emight be.

But yeah man, noir is getting so good :)

Yeah the slow releases is due to the fact of the amount of series Madman is trying to release - being the only real anime distributor in Australia (stay away from Siren releases, fansubs are of higher quality) they are trying to do everything - like kids in a lollie shop =D

They've advertised for more staff to cope with it all hehe

Noir kicks arse in the second half of the series where they really get stuck into the main plot!

Yup, they've just started to dive into it. Its finally strayed from random cool gun fights.

I think I can order them from the US somewhere, but it'll cost me about 2x as much per dvd.

I really love your avatar aswell ;)

hehe I've been tempted to buy out of the US before out of sheer lack of patience (Kenshin TV) ;)

Thats my little Kenshin Himura =D

Grave of the Fireflies could be released in Jan 2004 if my sources are correct =D

IVE FINALLY SEEN NOIR :D :D yaaay.

Managed to find a shop in chinatown that sells HQ fansubs on dvd... so I got noir!!

Really happy on how it turned out, it really picked up the pace towards the end of it, and that fightscene between kirika and chloe was unbeleivable!

Was shame to see chloe die they way she did though :(

hehe glad you enjoyed it - its one of my fav series at the momment :)
