a religion worked out he seven,

between 1 & 7,
an' then arguing where they
pick'd 'em all up.

But, really, the 'evelopment they gen'rate

Well what's your definition for nothingness? Like a vacuum?
 
if u had a container and there was nothing in it, no chemials, nothing at all. i dont think we could do it cause the wieght of the air would just imploded the container on itself, but i have been wrong before.

But it doesn't actually answer the question of whether it would be gaining mass or losing it. :\
 
what would happen if we put a container in space and brought it back to earth. then there would be nothing it in than, but in saying so how could we crerate a container that could withstand the pressure.
Why i thought of this was an experiment that i did in primary skool, we had a metal fuel container (empty ofcourse) and put a piece of burning paper in it and it imploded on itself, it was arwsome.

Oh and another question, is there always a reaction to an action. i.e something explodeds does it imploded first, even if its a for a micro second.

We have containers that withstand the pressure. They're called space shuttles.

There is stuff in space, just very little of it. atoms and stuff do float around.

and re: action/reaction, the reaction doesnt apply solely to what is acting, but to the environment around it
if you sit on a surfboard and push another person on a surfboard away from you, you'll move backwards too.
 
Like everyone said, there is no such thing as a perfect vacuum....even space has free-floating atoms of various elements.

Of course, if you chuck in the whole idea of subjective reality, then maybe there is such a thing as nothingness. Or to put it another way, does reality exist outside of your idea of what it is?

Clearly we need more acid to answer this question appropriately... =D

If I could find my lecture notes from sociology of religion, I'd give you the sociological explanation for that.

Where did all the formulas for maths, physics etc come from?
How were they made? Why do you need them for everyday things?(that's a pretty stupid question so don't answer if you can't be bothered)

Humans worked them out. Ever heard of einstein, pythagoras, curie, newton, da vinci, aristotle + many others?

We 'need' them for everyday things so objects can be designed to be made so we don't get killed/maimed/whatever by their use. Imagine sitting on a chair and it fell apart simply because people didn't know it was meant to hold weight. blah blah blah........
