Is LSD/acid a social drug?

LSD is an excellent rave drug if the dose is right, and by "right" I mean "low." Half of what you'd take for a normal trip, or less. As has been mentioned, a full-powered LSD trip can be very introverted and inappropriate for a rave setting. However, there's a dose range that's low enough to keep me from getting twisted but high enough to give me a wonderful sense of boosted energy and music appreciation.

I frequently take LSD at raves, but only 50-75 mcg doses. Add MDMA or Cannabis and enjoy the show!

When I was 17, inexperienced and stupid, I took LSD at a rave, lost the plot and ended up in the hospital (which was probably unnecessary). No clue what the dose was, but it was obviously strong. Euphoric unlike anything I'd ever experienced... to the point where I couldn't communicate with anyone.

Many, many years later I can only tolerate LSD in social settings at known low doses (60-70µg).
And just to show how I haven't learned from my mistakes: I took 110µg at a private party a few months ago, felt quickly overwhelmed and simply had to get the hell out of there. Which was a good decision because the trip got quite deep once I was home, and there's no way I could have handled the presence of others (and vice-versa).

If you're going to do this, in order to avoid bad surprises it's best to test out your LSD batch in private trips before trying it out in public.

keep the dosage on the lower side, that way you're not so floored and can actually talk to people without being so messed up (or thinking that you're so messed up and end up choosing your words super carefully)

also helps if you're naturally comfortable around groups of people imo

I agree with above poster. On low doses, LSD is suitable for partying. As the dosage increases, at least I become more antisocial and turn into myself, thinking the meaning of life etc. I would say: low enough LSD that you won't get heavy visuals or anything. I would take some 100-150ug, but my friend on the other hand finds about half of that to be just great for party. at 150ug I start to get some reality distortion (colors changing etc).

I completely agree with perpetualdawn, acid is a great drug for raves. Dancing on acid is ineffably amazing and I know at least for me I become the best dancer at the rave, well along with my other trippers. I know it sounds trite but you become the music and if you just close your eyes you don't even have to think about your dance moves, you just dance in sync with the music. And the tracers! It is like competing in Olympic rhythmic gymnastics with ribbons! I have taken MDMA at raves and LSD at raves and definitely would choose the latter, but I am very concerned with dancing for the entirety of the rave and I find that LSD facilitates this. Of course don't take a heroic dose and you should love it. Acid House never really left here so maybe I am just used to it, but it is pretty common for people to be on L at raves. I don't know where your rave is but I think you should be fine.

Also if you go dancing with a girlfriend, or whatever is your preferred sex partner, or are lucky to find someone nice to take home after a night of raving, sex after dancing all night on LSD is absolutely amazing. Something about the drug itself and working your mojo on the dancefloor all night potentiates the most incredible mindblowing sex.

Depends to be honest on your mood, well that's what I found. If you never taken it before I personally wouldn't recommend it for a rave as might be a bit overwhelmed. I was an experienced user with various stuff but the first time taking LSD wasn't in a rave and I was glad I wasn't. I have used it at raves since and had a wonderful time as knew what to expect with the drug and how to control my mind, if that makes sense.

Okay well I know before I said that personally I can't see myself dropping L at a rave... but after thinking about my response it's true... I don't really go to raves so you don't have to listen to me if you don't want as far as that lol. But I CAN say this... having taken LSD several times at several different doses on several different occasions in several different situations (except never at a rave)... I would say ultimately - it being a good social drug totally depends on a lot of different factors... pretty much all of the ones I just mentioned. I can say with almost 100% certainty that if the dose is kept low enough - as in no more than slightly above threshold, so like 50 mcg or so - it can be a wonderful social drug in almost any situation or environment. Any higher than that, and you will need to start picking and choosing your environment. situation, company and mindset much more carefully.

LSD is an amazing psychedelic for socialising on in my opinion. I'm one of those people who unfortunately has had severe anxiety issues in the past, and as a result, on most psychedelics I feel somewhat uncomfortable around other people unless I really trust them - at a rave it is different because I immerse myself in the music, but it still feels weird when it comes to the actual socialising there with many psychedelics - LSD on the other hand I could talk to anyone unless I took way too much of it, it actually has an anxiety reducing effect on me so even in situations where I'd normally feel nervous I don't while tripping on acid. :)

Rave music and was as culture has changed quite a bit in the past 10 years, and even more since the 80s. I don't think it's a fair assumption that acid is meant to be done at big festivals.

Psytrance and psybient music and festivals brings together people more good vibes and company. they are easier to get along with than ravers who are speeding on bunk "rolls" and bath salts being sold as "MDMA", that's too intense for people on LSD to witniss. I aint saying all raves are like this, just that psytrance is a better scene for tripping in public and socializing. Not only that but psy and goa trance was made for dancing or vibing to on LSD. It makes you not analyze or worry about what people think because your mind is in a totally nice space without overanalytical effects of tripping coming into the equation, this type of trance music helps you feel a connection to every stranger without fear of going into bad trip territory which can happen when you're only listening to your thoughts. That's really what creates a negative trip on acid in public, that and too high of dose. psy/goa Trance music is essential, it also makes people who are sober feel high and socialize or dance it's beautiful.

When I say doing LSD at a rave or psytrance party I'm talking enough to "get you off"(3rd eye and psychic effects) but not the type of doses you'd take at home where you don't want to move and can't even function.

I feel LSD is a drug to be respected. When I'm on it, I want to be away from society and I wana listen to real instruments, not electronic sounds. It has such a unique history, and the mental effects it produces for me are profound and beg to be away from the nastiness of society.

I also consider LSD to be a profound substance, and I can think of no better way to offer myself to it than at a party with good electronic music. LSD has played its part in creating this style of music, they like each other, and compliment each other in many ways.

I'm extremely antisocial on LSD, but it's fine at raves. Like somebody else said, it isn't your typical social setting. You're not obliged to talk to anyone; just zone out and dance/listen to the music.
