Is It Possible For Someone On Drugs To Not Know They Are?

I have had this happen to me, maybe twice now in life, if I had to count. The last time I was on what I was told was psilocybin extract (It was a small amount of brown goo, almost like hash, in a capsule) that made me trip BALLS, I completely forgot I had ate a psychedelic. My friend dosed the same moment as I, and I was begging him to drive me to the hospital. The other occasion was recently, a few weeks ago, when I had the hardest trip of my life on LSD and DXM. I didn't freak out nearly as bad, it was just more of a dissociative, "what-am-i?" feel as opposed to "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME DUDE?!?!?!" like the capsule was. I can't think of any other time when this has happened to me.
