IS it me or is dispensary cannabis not the same as home grown cannabis?

Rosin is undoubtedly better --- rosin on sale live resin not 4g of rosin cost the same as 10 of live resin and live resin seems to be hitting plenty hard.

Perma fried for the first time since highschool. (And I thank the nectar collectar as that is really what changed). I was just wasting hash with the torch. ( I presume most ppl are more efficient than me )

but 3.5 g of live resin when it broke lasted me 3 days -- 10 g with it working a full month. Obviously I suck at the torch so don't expect such a great savings

I think that the THC % estimations are pretty generous, but I’m going off the labels. Most dispensary pot is around 30%, extracts 60-80%, if testing can be believed. I tend to believe it because I can only smoke one hit and stay comfortable. With the “20%“, I can take several hits. Granted, this is a far cry from the compressed, seedy, brown weed of my youth. I doubt that stuff was even 5%.

well the legal plus minus is 10% here so if they say 29 it has to be at least 19% or ??

I feel like they push this with popcorn buds and shake they label the same % THC as the colas

^ Thank you -- That confuses me with pills to. "Can have up to 20% more" -- no they can't its like 5% deviation max (Or something don't quote me)

I think they have their finger on the scale, but 20% is less than. 30%. I just smoked a joint of the 20%. I was able to finish it, and do not feel anxious. Sometimes one hit of the “30%” will cause anxiety.

I can sometimes feel anxious. Generally around unfamiliar people or surroundings, so I avoid those when smoking. That said, does anyone find they have less anxiety with repeated doses? For instance, if you smoke every hour or two until you work up to being pretty stoned. Is that high less anxious?

Yes - in general the more pot in my blood the more comfortable I am.

I have never reached that tipping point of anxious or anything -- but I genuinely do not care if the whole room 'suspects' I am stoned. ( I think alot of ppl's anxiety stems from that - 'oh no everyone can see I'm stoned I'm gunna mess up'

my brain is wired more like 'everyone is gunna mess up now and than at least your stoned if it happens' lol

I find this government cannabis isnt grown from the heart from the human touch its like crack weed it looks good but it doesnt get your eyes red doesnt get eyes red or that throat hit and only gets you high for 1 hour aka crack weed.
Gets you high for 1 hour and makes you buy more the grow it with machines not with human touch i think they shouldnt have dispensary but weed should be legal in canada we use to make so much money off cannabis and it was so much better and grown way better now its not grown right.
i prefer good outdoor kush indica and i use to make so much money off it then selling any other drugs besides selling pills and "clear' aka meth.
I think dispensaries should be only how its like the natives are doing it growing it with love and spirit the proper way get high for hours imo.

i legit made so much money in grade 9 selling .5 "fin"s 5$ bags cause i didnt get no lunch money making 300$ a day at school.
i still can make money off hoe grown kush from old schoolers if its homegrown cause they agree they hate the dispensary shit too.

Its like cigarettes to in canada now to the talor mades are worse then the natives there legit sheets of papers coated on the cigarettes, the native smokes are better i find they use the orginal paper and the tabacco is better there not using the left over trimming tabbaccoo mixxed with dried up maple leafs any more.

IMO I think there should be a change

Dispensary weed here in Canada is way, way too strong now. I rarely smoke anymore but last time I did, the lowest THC they could sell me was 15%. Back in the day that would've been considered superior quality already. I can't function on dispensary weed.

im a survivor of the SSRI era of overprescribing, when i share this part of my life as i started working in homeopathic retail and with people from ethiopia as a teenager, i grew to love this history of the spice lords that dominated the ocean sailing and to bring chocolate and coffee to the venetians, their initiating of entire western civilization and gave rise to the united states birth of new generation of ushering in traditions like cannabis fungee and the obssession and rush one gets from obtaining natural products that include ritual and practical use in an amazing culturally transcendence that sought to herald a boom that has existed for several hundred years and we live in today, when grafting live vines or branches and cuttings from many different diverse species onto a
genetically differnt and rich plant life of different region for instance hostilis mimosa from south america to one grown in hawaii and then adapted to the mainland southeast us, there is no other feeling like seeing a new varietal form connection and begin to take hold as the cell wall in front or your own eyes starts to enrich and bring all of the living essence into the sample. my first experience growing from seed as a teenager i felt a true calling, a moving experience to my core, and having to learn everything from experience. i was forced to take a ten year hiatus and pushed
into drug court on the day a friend started to have a heart attack and nearly die at the grow. none us had consumed anything that day in the late 2000s. for years i was did not reveal my several years of growing experience to anyone... family, girlfriends, medical cannabis advocates and conniseurs and anyone who knew i enjoyed this for a phobia that i still live with. punishment for cultivating schedule 1 substance still exists in my region, and there are people not an hour away from where i live doing life sentence for home cultivation, a life sentence in this region of the us mainland, without proper permits or liscense one can still opt to just die in prison early and the bureau of prisons will still let you decide if you want to wither away in a cell or choose death in front of a firing squad. only in the last few years did i observe industrial hemp being produced in this very same region for purposes of adhesives ( much of the secrecy is under titles and presentations that by research growing environments of lakota / cherokee hemp, and want nothing to do with marijuana farming) the same way the media portrays these farmers and university alphabet agency govt scientists hold the authority to direct that potent marijuana is wrong but hemp is supreme. and both advocate the war on drugs is a complete nightmare of failures since the inception of the bureau of narcotics.

Honestly, being into understanding brands and shit does help. I say this as someone who mostly agrees with you, I say mostly because all my plugs had medical/dispensary quality anyway, and I never had a say in what strain it was, so sometimes I'd just get fucked up not knowing THC% or anything.

I feel like there's this type of homegrown that just goes around everywhere. Looks fire, isn't too terpy, but still has a light vanilla taste/smell, mostly skunky smell and probably around 15%. Any homegrown I've had the past few years no matter who or where it was from, it looked, smelled, tasted the same to me. I smoked plenty of that a bit last year, then a cousin in the Midwest gave me some homegrown and it's like the exact copy paste shit lol. I guess it's more consistent these days then, which sounds like a plus for people who want that I suppose.

When I was younger and didn't smoke as often, I'd smoke on dispensary weed and have to huff a straight up small leaf lol, I'd be at a 10 on some Super Silver smoking almost nothing, so I guess trying that's always an option. Anyway, if you can't function then you should look for strains high in Terpinolene, like Jack Herer or fruity Sativas in general, there's too many to name. High Myrcene strains are usually couchlocky

Dispensary weed is all the same. Crossed and recrossed until you have a leaning Indica hybrid. Indica genes are likely dominant, but regardless were more adapted to indoor and outdoor grow in the US and thus will end up dominating either way.

It's always been uber hard to breed a real Sativa high into pot and still retain fast production and cosmetics.
ACE seeds has managed to do that. They've got a great selection of genuine pure Sativa varieties with more manageable timings. They've also got pure Indica varieties.

Indica highs will always feel stronger.
Compared to Indica themed sedative type highs the ACE seeds Sativa effects vary from caffeine to psychedelic type stuff.

I'm coming to fnd that terpenes matter. CBD and other minor cannabinoids do as well, maybe moreso. But, terpenes do have an effect, or modify the effect.
Absolutely. All plant terpenes have a certain degree of psychoactive effects. Terpenes interact with a broad range of areas including dopamine, serotonin, opioid, GABA and even cannabinoid (caryophyllene is one of several that seem to interact with the endocannabinoid system).

I estimate that cannabis terpenes contribute to at least 40% of the plants overall effects. That's based on first hand experience and papers which investigate the pharmacology of terpenes aka how they are psychoactive.

An easy way to explore this is using steam-distilled essential oils... there's hundreds to choose from and they're pretty inexpensive. Each oil has a unique terpene profile. Something like lemon oil is ~70% limonene with pinene + gamma-terpinene (all 3 are cannabis terpenes), orange oil is 95%+ limonene, 'ho wood' oil is 95%+ linalool (common cannabis terpene) but myrhh oil contains many non-cannabis terpenes. Myrrh oil is also psychoactive.

I'd use a toothpick to put a drop of oil onto the flower or rizzla smoking paper. Easy way to customise your high. Or use the terpenes on their own eg in a smoothie, ice cream, cocktail or diluted applied topically.

The problem with 30% THC weed is that after lets say 1 year of use, the subjective high is prob the same as the high from 15% THC weed. So you might as well stick with the lowest THC weed you can find. Want a bigger buzz? Take 1 more puff ;)

Reading the original post I think the problem less lies in the fact weed is now grown under government oversight, but the fact markets of the modern day have made marijuana (like many other types of intoxicants) much stronger and forced it to a ' more is better ' mentality. Like hard liquor pushing higher percentages or ever more ridiculous flavorings, or the same with potato chips providing more esoteric flavors by the week almost. WIth the marijuana (and even mushroom) market people have likely been breeding it stronger and stronger for so long it's now ridiculously strong beyond what it once was when it still came in bricks and was a nice brown color. Not to mention the prevalence of illegal pesticides in the black market grown stuff (which lots of legal establishments sell from what I've heard) and a lack of care when growing in bulk being a factor too.

I think it's no surprise the weed of today is stupidly strong and fucks you up beyond reason. Between not only the weed being bred to be stronger and nothing else and the fact lots of it is being sprayed with shitty chemicals is why lots of the bulk grown weed isnt as good as homegrown. Especially since homegrown people dont have as much incentive to grow as much as humanly possible. THere's also a chance you know lots of really good home growers in your area, which would defenitley help in make homegrown as good as it is lol.

Imagine this with coffee, at double or triple the caffeine % while losing the other beneficial things that coffee beans contain (there's a fair few which contribute significant psychoactive and therapeutic effects). Coffee wouldn't be the same.

That's a good example as well! And even if the coffee beans (and in our case, weed) itself had a fairly even growth of all the active ingredients it would still lead to much harsher effects due to the fact it's so concentrated. Like dabs and extracts, even if they're fairly evenly composed of terps as well as THC they'll still fuck up anyone who either has a low tolerance or ain't used to be extremely high. So there's a higher barrier to entry for new people who wanna smoke, as it's harder to get introduced and not green out with how strong stuff is these days.

This sounds great in theory. I would smoke 15% all year round except for special occasions.

In reality I feel like 15% weed does not give the same buzz no matter how much is smoke and often ends in a headache and afterburn

I will continue to stick with the dispensary has the best pot in this region. I know growers, we grew hydro in the 90s with AMAZING SUCCESS. More pot than you could possibly smoke at all times and noone had anything close to it in our area..
Since legalization I have worked on a farm that was pretty well managed. Big pot trees like in the back of that book (someone name the book if they can), Very cool, one of the most surreal cool places I have been.

Now on the west coast I hear the majority of the market is still black as taxes are so damn high they are ruining the whole point (Or so the argument has been made) -- over there I could see growers having better weed a little bit more
