No, not at all !! It's completely normal !! Im just worried because I might develop an infection!

Should I take Penicilin or Erythromycin in precaution? If so, should I inject the liquid form or taking it orally?

Similar antibiotics like Amoxilin or levofloxacine may work as well?

I guess I'll take levofloxacine just in case

Better safe than sorry. Go to the hospital, all you're risking is the doc saying you were stupid to inject Xanax. Then you'll be safe and lesson learned.

If not the hospital, an urgent care (they're cheaper). If you DO need to go to a hospital they will tell you that. OR you can call an emergency hotline and ask what you should do. That's probably what I'd do first.

Good luck.

I've just took levofloxacine which is indicated for subcutaneous infections like abscesses (since i still probably didnt develop a infection yet, or if I did its in a pretty early stage). I too have amoxilin which is also indicated, but I heard form a doctor that levofloxacine is a much stronger antibiotic.

I don't know if Penicillin would be a better choise tho.

@Cocorosie
Thanks man.. You calmed me down a lil bit. I hope you're right

And thank you all for your help too! Please, if there's any additional contribution to add please do it, I'm constantly watching this thread.

Listen, if you aren't going to go seek medical help then keep a VERY close eye on it. IM'ing pills is a very bad idea for reasons you are probably aware of and that I won't go into here, but if it seems like it's getting worse then you need to go to a hospital or other medical facility.

did you just use water to inject it with? seeing as it isn't water soluble, you probably just injected water. but also seeing as you were drunk when you did it, i doubt you filtered it properly, therefore i'm sure you had particulates of fillers and binders floating around in there. which is terrible to IM, obviously.

in my honest opinion, i would say you're fine. especially if the skin isn't hot or swollen. but in the same breath, you can NEVER be sure. as blonde said, if you aren't going to seek medical attention then keep a close watch on it. take antibiotics if you can, as well.

Haha I hate to laugh but I've shot so many things intramuscular that were less than smart to shoot, and never had a problem come out of it.

That will happen though if you cycle steroids long enough. I've injected nonfiltered oil, cut with non filtered oil, injected oil from UGLs (underground labs), injected motor oil (of course didn't know at the time) have hit nerves, feel down once from a shot straight into the lungs (when you don't aspirate and hit a vessel or vain it washes out into the lungs and you cough yourself to the floor and usually pass out).

Theres alway potential for an abcess but its not the end of the world, I always wait to see if one forms before even worrying about a trip to the ER, and luckily it has never happened. Again this is steroids, not xanax pills, but I still think the body is much stronger than most people think.

Just keep an eye on it, and if it gets worse go see a dr, otherwise chances are your body will fight off small amounts of bacteria and I think you'll be alright.

Alprazolam is barely water soluble, you probably got 0 effect from it.

You're glad it's not water soluble too, mixing benzos and alcohol makes for a shitty hangover.

Watch the area, if it becomes discolored, increasingly inflamed or painful, GO TO THE ER. If it gets better over time, feel fortunate for yourself.

I can't say "don't go to the ER" because that isn't wise, but neither is IMing Xanax with just water, and especially, not micron filtering. :\

I think this is best suited for the IV Complications Mega Thread.

you'll probably be alright. back in my dumber days, I would try and shoot xanax. I missed on several occasions, and the worst I got was some nasty swelling. However, I've heard lots of horror stories.

I missed a shot of meth today. I've been on methadone for a couple months and I think the last time I IV'd was in January. I hit the vein, registered twice, depressed the plunger, and halfway through I saw a tiny bubble form. I didn't get a rush. It was red; I applied pressure with warm water and redness seems to have reduced but it looks fairly swollen. It sorta seems like I may have went through the vein because of the wide swollen base, but I don't think I went that far.

I've shot ice before and have read up on it, but it's been awhile. Is there anything I should worry about in comparison to shooting opiates?

If the swelling doesn't go down over the next hour, and just gets worse, you might want to seek medical attention.

I'm sure it hurt like hell too but you might be OK. I would strongly suggest watching it carefully.

yeah refilter it. and be carefull if you're keeping that tie on for a long time. I once got some serious infections. I had the tourniquet on for a long time, trying to find a vein, and all the blood in my arm coagulated, as did the shit in the syringe. it got so bad that I had to pull out the plunger and tap the damn thing against the cooker to get the solution out... and then upon injection, one of my veins just burst, which is a scary thing, because since I registered, I thought I was completely in. Needless to say, I wound up in the hospital for several days after this.

Use it as soon as possible and you should be fine. When I was a daily IV user things (those things being veins) got so bad it would take at least two hours to get a shot and that shot would have to be refiltered several times along the way to remove the clots. As long as the blood hasn't been hanging round too long, and hasn't actually clotted and blocked the syringe, it's generally okay, in my experience. To be honest, I've shot stuff that's full of blood and been sitting around for days before with few problems - dirty hits are far more likely though and I would strongly advise against leaving it that long. If it's fresh blood and still liquid it's not a problem, in my experience.

Once you have introduced blood to a shot, you should use it as quickly as possible. You can re-filter it if needed.

I would suggest doing practice shots with water to get the hang of it first, that's just my two cents.

This will fit well in the injection complications mega thread, so I'm going to merge it in there.

Would it be safe to use a rig that's been used once months ago, but after it was used was cleaned out (just with water) and has been capped since then?
