Yes they are comparable if you're comparing a persons freedom to love, but inbreeding holds serious consequences in the long run and homosexuality doesn't.

^Like poe said, animals grasp the fact that family breeding is not viable, although I believe it's because they hold a different perspective on 'love' (can't exactly say they don't have the capacity for it).

Yes, incest has been happening since the dawn of time, royal families are doing this in order to keep their lineage and wealth/power just within their clan. So why is this practiced not very popular nowadays? Because it is wrong, and like what others have said before, birth defects are very likely to happen.

With regards to having children, homosexuals can adopt children if they would like to have a family, couples in incestous relationships may encounter birth problems etc as already mentioned.

I also don't find it attractive (incest) at all. However I don't understand why the simple act of two consenting adults bothers anyone.
 
Yes, Homosexuality and Incest are both sexual taboos. And they are both capable of being consummated by consensual adults. However, the broad comparison pretty much stops there.
LGBTs are a part of mainstream society. Incest is not, and part of the reason culturally is incest's risk of overlapping into
"grooming" and reproductive genetic disasters. Both incest and homosexuality deserve their own separate advocates, but just because you can find other sexual taboos that could possibly take place between consenting adults, doesn't mean that each taboo is equally interchangeable, or that an advocate of homosexuality has to be an advocate of incest (or vice versa).
 
^^ The only major support groups that exist for incest are guided at victims of abuse.

Honestly, if I were in an incest relationship and I felt the need to go to a support group the very first thought that comes to mind is LGBT. I disagree that it's not interchangeable. Not only are the support groups interchangeable, it's the only accessible option that exist today.
 
LGBT isn't strictly limited to the acronym.. I think the group is more about equality regarding sexuality for all.

But I love how the only thing g people can come up with for it being "wrong" is that it would cause birth issues. Okay, so don't conceive. We have the means of contraception and I would assume that most incestuous couples/partners would take that initiative.
And what about homosexual incest?

Also regarding the "akwardness".. This is assuming they "break up" and also assuming they don't hold the maturity to deal with it. Honestly I can speak for myself in saying I'm mature enough to be around someone I've had sex with. Why is this a hard concept to grasp for you guys? And besides. Why do you care if it would be akward for them? That would be their problem not yours.

Regarding animals knowing it's "wrong"... that is one single instance, many animals will fuck family. Not only that but more animals will fuck family over mating homosexual. .. so which is more "wrong" by animal standards? Homosexuality.

Animals do not mate for pleasure or love they mate for procreation.

First of all, nice ninja edit. Did you want to speak to me without me replying directly to you? Well too bad.

Second, I was not talking about royal families and their monies. I was talking about the logistics of having two people in the world and suddenly we now have over 7 billion. Logistically speaking, we fucked our siblings at some point in time.

Lastly, noone is disagreeing with you that incest causes birth defects and is a serious consideration. You have made absolutely no argument for why two consenting adults (not having a kid) is wrong. And that is exactly what this thread is about.

So anyone attempting to make the "this is wrong" argument in this thread is down right prejudice.

I can and I am.

I can also make the exact same argument on the side of the evolutionist (which I am one by the way).

For example, evolution states that we evolved from other species over a period of time. We also are aware of the fact that there were segregated groups which migrated around the world. It's not a stretch to consider at any point in time (even today there are these cultures found in S America) a culture completely isolated from the rest of society. How do you think it's possible for these cultures to continue to exist without ever "dipping into the gene" pool so to speak? It's not possible.

Honestly I think most people are quick to jump at the thought that it's MOST likely that your very own relatives (ancestors) were inbreeding because guess what that implies? Yep, that means that we are all most likely inbreed. "But I'm perfect!" one might say. I disagree.

The fact that cows and other animals have natural responses to NOT fucking their siblings is also directly related to EVOLUTION. So at one point early on in the cow evolution some cow siblings were getting it on. They discovered their offspring were not as desirable as they would have liked. Guess what evolution does next? Evolution now makes the cows innately aware of incest. This only occurred because incest occurred FIRST.

It's always been happening and there is an extremely good chance all of us are a product of inbreeding.

Consensual incest doesn't bother me if the people involved didn't grow up having that family relationship.. If they did..

If it was a parent and one of their children that's fucked up.. or any situation where a child has grown a long side an adult (uncles to nieces, for example)..

It really all depends on the individual case.
 
Because there is obviously no such thing as an incestuous relationship that is truly consensual.
 
It's only in the last 150 years that incest has become taboo, especially since the advent of Molecular Biology. The act itself isn't inherently immoral but the risks associated are great enough that I agree with the taboo. If both parties had zero degenerative alleles and none appeared during reproduction then there is no problem. However, DNA is such that mutations are incredibly numerous and frequent, so the above situation would never arise naturally.
