To have NO Belief is STILL A Belief (and you even went on to elaborate on your belief in the later part of your post.)

It is not beyond the definition cult. It is still an idea...that CAN be preached & followed by individuals that make up a group of like-minded people.
 
I think everything is being taken waaaay too literally here. I think when they say Tribe, they simply mean, a group of people. Not a religous group of people, just a group of people who collectively come together to listen to the same music....together...at the same time..in the same place.. Period. Not something you have to sign up for, or devote your heart to, or find your place in the infrastructure of the tribe. I didn't realize the word Tribe was so scary......

In saying our 'existence is impossible'

He is saying there is no way to fully explain our existence and how it all came about. Thus, this theory would run more in line with the mystical than the physical.

so what do atheists say when they are getting it on?.....OH NATURE! .........OH NATURE!.......? or how about OH SCIENCE!........my point is obvious, there has to be a god, or there wouldnt be sex, and without sex, you wouldnt have people, which are necessary to produce a society of people who create god, which gives them a sense of purpose in their otherwise meaningless lives.....personally, i don't need a god in order to feel a sense of purpose, but some people do, most people do, which is why i am an agnostic, half-jew, buddhist satanist with a hint of juniper....in conclusion, don't do drugs, especially pharmaceutical, because the FDA are a bunch of crooks, for a plethora of reasons that i can not go into right now.....

correct, serindipidousone was talking about how tribal music *barf* can provoke a religious experience, too skewed for me to even listen to. Tribe is and can be a cool word, A tribe called quest, thats my kinda tribe.

I think a cult is strictly a religious thing, as a tribe would be, but I COULD BE WRONG. Can it really be used in that simple of context.?

To have no beliefs*AS IN RELIGIOUS BELIEFS YOU ASS* makes me a non-believer *IN ANY religion YOU ASS, ONCE AGAIN*. I cannot be in a cult!! I do however have non-religious beliefs, I believe that my starbucks grande coffee will be consistant everyday. I believe that it will. I believe that my will car start in the morning, when I put the key in the ignition, it does!! damn the word belief really starts to look weird when you stare at it for a long time. Einstein was an atheist, I wonder what he would have to say about this bluelight.ru forum? heh. I believe Einstein was my father<--that statement being skewed, is how I look at religious statements, just trying to help you understand.

dude, you are so combative!!! But it's all good, just to argue for argument's sake, it's a good time killer here at work.

Anyways, I didn't write back to add anything on the "argument", just to say that CT Peppers is a club in Broad Ripple, on College Ave, next to The Vogue. This happens in the basement of the club, which is really cool, there's a bar down there, a couple pool tables, a huge dance floor, a private room... Mirrored walls, neat lights, etc.. It's a really cool place.

I did ago in there one Wednesday (back when it was Wednesdays) and the poker people were down there playing their tournament. Talk about a cult!! That shit was eerie! They were all quiet, staring at their cards, sitting uniformly at the tables.

I know I have to live in this xtian society and this is my way to vent I guess. jk, thats what a journal is for. I had fun with you saturday, YOU were very funny, flirting with Geek, HAAAA. Hey! I think I remember this discussion! I wasn't around for all of it, but I remember walking into it or something. That was awhile ago, wow. Any way I just wanted to add my two cents and say I used to be an atheist back in high school for a couple years and you couldn't have convinced me any other way. It was right around the time my father was becoming super religious, which made me even more intent on my views that there was nothing. As for now I would have to classify myself as agnostic for the reason that I really don't think anyone can know what's real either way. I will never believe in any "god" created by man for man to feel better about and jusitify our pointless exisitence. However I do think that their is a sight chance that mebe their is more going on in the universe than we could comprehend. I have to agree with geek on his point about how religion has caused more wars and hate than anything else. I actually really liked his whole post on that matter. It sounded exactly like what I used to believe, and still believe to an extent, back in the day.
Any way, I'm looking forward to this party, it's always nice to check out a new venue cause I feel like I go to Fusion all the time. I'm finally over my cold and I can't wait to party with everybody! =]
