You get what you need!

Yeah, I mean.... if she were a bluelighter then mabee she'd have a pot to piss in!

J/K I think it's important to have these voices heard and seen. It's great to party, to laugh and have fun, to celebrate. But..... It's equaly as important for people to see that some of us find varrious meanings and functions in it all. It's important to reach out and save as many as possible..... from what I'm not exactly sure...... but to offer a safe zone where people feel comfortable to do what they want to do. If it means dancing, spinning, talking, drinking, smoking, writing, drawing, or expressing, etc........ at least we have the opportunity to identify with those members who may have been turned off by a lack of spirituality... thinking our culture is a fly by night fad... consisting of pure intoxication. There's somethin for everyone, and a place for everyone in our culture..... thats one of many advanced attributes. We have dogma if you want it, we have synicism if you want it, we got cute candy kids, and big thugs, businesses and organizations, you can be atheletic and dance, or flag poi, or you can put a few back and chill on the sofa. It can be spiritual, or simple recreation. I myself slide in many modes.... whatever my life needs.... 9 times out of 10... I can find it within my culture, it sometimes lends it on it's own behalf. Sensible enough for me.

ummm, well i don't know, if you guys saw serendipity last night at fusion, you might have had a religious experience!....can i get an amen!!..................

times?

ok, so maybe i can pose another question that might not provoke such controversy, b/c really i harbor enough guilt for one lifetime.....so, when exactly do the doors open for ctp's this thurs.? and when exactly does the music start?...thanks .....and thanks, serendipity, for your kind words...i sincerely hope you dont feel discouraged from expressing yourself because of a few hostile words recently uttered....you have a lot of profound and beautiful things to say that, i believe, if people really listen, should only instill hope and enlighten, rather than promote fear....not to mention, of course, as a dj, you rock!!......... :)

ok, let me try again: when do the doors open for ctp's this thursday? and when does the music start?.........thanks :)

Actually, we are going to start NEXT Thursday... the 9th of December. I am sure that Seth or Nate will post on here about that shortly.

Thursday

Actually, Correct in saying that CT Peppers starts a week from tomorrow. December 9th - at 10 pm -2 pm

Mr. Show -
I appreciate your comments on Serendipity - she does rock as a dj. I always have fun playing with her. I wondered what people thought of our set at Fusion, b/c I thought that it was in the top five sets that we've played in the past 6 months. (Have you gotten our CD 'Double Entendre?' - let me know if you haven't) We left Fusion energized!

Geek-
Serendipity does have a unique way about her communication. Instead of 'dissing' it, try to keep an open mind. Understanding yields Acceptance. If not, okay - No one can force you to do anything. I suppose 'tribal house' definition is different for anyone that you ask. For me it includes the collective as well as the tribal elements apparent in the music.

Physix-
What kind of music can I play to make you smile?

I look forward to seeing everyone out in EIGHT days...

nATE

^^its one thing to use tribe to explain the family aspect of your CREW, but she was using tribal in a sense that her music could unify people in a warm and fuzzy sort of way.

the sentiement that music will unite us does nothing to explain what it sounds like, though it does make me think of pilled out kids feeling up on eachother. describe your beat patters, describe the samples used, describe the rhythm, describe anything relating to how it sounds, but for fuck's sake, please, at least make sense. seriously, her description made about as much sense as "subjective house" did two years ago.

and i understand her POV, but i just think it has no utility when describing the aesthetics of music.

pants

hey, nate i look forward to listening to double entendre, which i have yet to recieve....you also rocked the fusion, as i already mentioned in the other thread...in fact, i think you and serendipity are the most entertaining and inspiring djs in indiana i have seen so far, and that ain't no lie.....and yes, i did notice how especially terrific your set at fusion was!...i danced my pants off, but i had to sit down eventually, to collect my thoughts, well, no i didn't, but i sat down anyway.....

whu happened?

i'm sorry, but what happened to dec. 2nd?....i was looking forward to it?....now, what am i gonna do? :(

if it please the court...

oh and geekster, "your honor, please instruct the witness to answer the question!"......you should be a lawyer! :))

oops

oh ok, my fault, you guys did say dec 9th....i guess i thought one week after thanksgiving and got confused....i've got egg on my face...i am one dumb asshead!........throw me in the garbage because i am useless!....too much?

One WEEK!!

Looking forward to spinning some polka in one week! Lol

Mr. Show -- Sorry bout the confusion, but we will be starting on the 9th... at 10 p.m. I'll be sure to bring you a CD. - you need some kind of payment for the 'the most entertaining and inspiring djs in indiana i have seen so far, and that ain't no lie' -- gotta pay you off somehow ;) he eh

WE are going to be setting up CT Peppers a bit differntly, so come and check it out. I guess they are getting upgraded plasma tv's in the bassment, and some new lights...

Look forward to seeing everyone there.

Respect each other

thanx for the nice comments...by the way...for those who are confused over what I was saying earlier...to me tribe is family....not to be confused about the "tribal" contained in my music...yes, I tend to use a lot of tribal elements in my music (organic instruments and sounds and tribal drums and rhythms, even chanting from, guess what? tribes of people...) but if you had ever listened to me play you would already know this....I stand by my previous statement that I spin funky TRIBAL house music that to me is highly spiritual, to others uplifting...but all in all it is POSITIVE. now go ahead geek, this is normally where you take my words, confuse them, and plug them into your own meaning. I do not care if you understand me or not. you have a different point of view, great, that is fine. For you to attack my point of view because it is different than yours is against the very grain of what I believe in, and it shows absolutely no respect on your part for individuality or personal beliefs. It seems obvious to me that you just like to stir up reactions in people, out of what boredom? because I have yet to come across something intellegent or thought-provoking that you have to say. "spread the negativity" seems to be your message, there is enough problems in this world already, why actively participate in creating more? because you can? I can't imagine being so miserable that you actually get kicks out of bringing other people down. It is impossible to agree with everyone about everything, but you do not need to cut down, be cruel to, make fun of, or ridicule anyone or their ideas. We are not in grade school, we are adults, and maybe, just maybe, it is time for some of us to start abiding by the rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"...
much love and ReSpEcT....Serendipity

can't wait to see everyone on December 9th!

pool + music = poosic?

oooh, does ctp's have pool tables? if so, who wants to play me?....anyone?....anyone?

here is a thought provoking statement.

why do we have to read so far into the simplicities of life? why can't we take things at face value instead of trying to constantly imply a deeper meaning? this implication of additional, useless meaning is how organized religion became the scurge of the earth. early man yearned for a reason to his existence and continually tried to explain his existence in terms of some ethereal meaning. this higher meaning led to the development of doctrine and dogma. those doctrine and dogma have been the cause of more wars and hate than any other factor. now maybe if we could just accept the fact that we are simply the sum of molecules and reactions, and that our only purposes are to live, reproduce, and die, we wouldnt have all the hate in the world that we have today.

humans and life in general are not special. when i die, my "soul" won't go to heaven or hell. my body will decompose and the elements of my body will be recycled into the world around me.

and no matter how unified in your music you feel, its not gonna change the fact that you and i both are an ongoing chemical reaction that will someday be completely explained in mathematical terms.

now quit trying to make yourself more important than you really are. there are 6 billion people on the planet, and they all want to believe they are special.... but they aren't.

i fully intend on being an attorney and fucking idiots out of their money everyday.

i am a money-grubbing fuck and love it.

Pool

Mr. Show - Yes. They have MANY pool tables - I'd be happy to play you for a beer.

Serendipity - :)

Geek - Belief in a higher power is a decision made by every individual. It has been since cohesive thought. Maybe you would be enlightened on the question of your existence by seeking an inner faith. I know that I find comfort knowing that my existence here on earth is a brief time relative to the eternity that I will spend in heaven. Just another opinion for you to entertain. If I'm wrong, so what, but if you're wrong - uh-oh.

I would argue that you ARE special as well as the other 6 billion people in the world, playing important parts in the development of the Earth, including plants, animals and people.

I suppose I am off on a tangent from the thread, so getting back to the thread --
I am excited to get this going again. I look forward to see how IT evolves and grows.
