...you mean snapple doesn't have rat poison in it? Damn, I've been drinking it for nothing!

It's always exacerbating to try and explain what psilocybin and psilocin are to those people while emphasizing that psilocybin mushrooms aren't poisonous.
DonkeyPunch said:"biologically" speaking, chocolate is a poison, as is water. since you can die from eating or drinking too much of either.
Technincally no substance is poisonous unless a toxic level of it is accumulated in the body. Even strychnine was once used safely as a stimulant, and still is in some vetrinary applications.

Then she cited the retracted Ricuarte study when she declared that "MDMA causes massive brain damage and fries serotonin receptors."
I'm too shy to say anything in class, and my professor was too dumb for me to even waste my time explaining to her how wrong she was and why. I'm not sure how she ever got her Ph.D or is in anyway qualified to teach a neuropsychology class that has a lot to do with drugs.
It's hard to speak up, especially about drugs because then everyone will know you're a drug user. At the time, my clothing/appearance just screamed stoner and I wasn't willing to risk getting anxious when I knew the prof would just argue with me.
