Ignorance About Drugs ~ Bitch Here

...you mean snapple doesn't have rat poison in it? Damn, I've been drinking it for nothing!

"Dude, I swear. Those mushroom chocolates were laced with ecstacy and meth." A friend a couple weeks ago. :)

I heard someone tell me the other day that generic drugs were allowed to by law to have 20 % less drug in them then brand name. I continued as if i heard nothing because she sells pills. Someday when she tries to sell a generic i'm gunna ask for a discount in price since i'm gettin less active material. ;) :D

It always pisses me off when people say that you trip off of mushrooms because of the fact that they're poisonous and that it's your brain reacting to the poison. It's always exacerbating to try and explain what psilocybin and psilocin are to those people while emphasizing that psilocybin mushrooms aren't poisonous.

i have friends who still believe that lsd drips blood onto your spine or some shit.

^^^ Oh god i can't fucking even remember all the stupid people who have said that one to me. Another one is that taking magic mushrooms is the same as taking rat poison and cause the same effect's.

Yet another dandy that i often hear is the LSD put's holes in your brain or it's effect's are caused by the fluid in your brain dripping down your spine and that's why you see colours.

Whenever i hear people say dumb shit like this i always correct them and explain how psilocybin and LSD works. Of course these dumbasses don't actually understand anything about the brain so it's fairly pointless. I feel like bitch slapping people this stupid.

actually , they are poisonous. yes, they make you trip because of psilocybin and psilocin but all drugs are poisons biologically speaking.

"biologically" speaking, chocolate is a poison, as is water. since you can die from eating or drinking too much of either.

Technincally no substance is poisonous unless a toxic level of it is accumulated in the body. Even strychnine was once used safely as a stimulant, and still is in some vetrinary applications.

Anyone ever watch CSI: Las Vegas? Excellent show, but thye are so ignorant about drugs. One episode, the character Nick Stokes refered to Ketamine as being a barbiturate. In the episode thats on right now on CBS, the character Gil Grissom reffered to methaqualone (Quaaludes) as being a benzodiazapen. Also, they make generalizations about drug users. Once, Sarah Sidel said "junkies bruise if you touch them too hard."

They ignorance is disgusting. Youd figure with how accurate they try to be with everything else they would at least take their time to get inforamtion about the drugs involved with the case right.

thats the point I was trying to get across to burn out. well sorta anyway. I was trying to say that basically ANYTHING can be labeld as a "poison" if you take enough to reach the toxic level.

During our lecture on drugs in my neuropsych class my professor stated that "psilocybin is a type of cactus just like mescaline, which is where LSD comes from." My jaw dropped. And she spelled cannabis "cannibus."

Then she cited the retracted Ricuarte study when she declared that "MDMA causes massive brain damage and fries serotonin receptors."

I'm too shy to say anything in class, and my professor was too dumb for me to even waste my time explaining to her how wrong she was and why. I'm not sure how she ever got her Ph.D or is in anyway qualified to teach a neuropsychology class that has a lot to do with drugs.

It's hard to speak up, especially about drugs because then everyone will know you're a drug user. At the time, my clothing/appearance just screamed stoner and I wasn't willing to risk getting anxious when I knew the prof would just argue with me.

My "Drugs and Society" professor brought up the Ricaurte study too, and I didn't shut up about it. She still went on to downplay my comments, but at least that was the only factual error in her class.

i know, didn't you read the quote i posted in the first page of this thread?

poi·son (poi'zən)
n.
1. A substance that causes injury, illness, or death, especially by chemical means.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition.

Going by that definition I don't think that you could say water or chocolate are poisons. Probably not Mushrooms either though.

^ going by that definition you definitley could say they are poisons. Drink to much water and get hyponytremia (sp?). Too much chocolate can make you sick. Too much mushrooms and you could overdose. Too much heroin will kill you. Too much APAP and your liver shuts down. Too much cocaine youll have heart failure. I could keep going if youd like.

Id consider ODing and dying being a cause of death. Id consider liver failure an illness or injury. Heart failure is an injury. Vomiting and nausea would be an illness. Cant argue with that, really.

^ i agree. Thats why my only comment in this thread will be about CSI, and the fact that drugs can be considered poisons. Thats it.

omfg.... stupid people are fuckin.... i can't even continue reading this post, i can't even talk about stupid people, i'm on drugs, and stupid people piss me off.
