I still argue with two of closest friends about ecstasy. They still believe that its a combination of coke and heroin. Fucking schmucks.

Hahaha yeah them and like 65% of the population.

Jesus... really? I've never even heard this one before.

What kind of fucking idiot would think ecstasy was coke OR heroin, let alone both? It has zero similarity to either. I can't even think of a drug that is more different from both coke and heroin. Even if you've never done C or H, surely you know their approximate profile by reputation.

Coke: 20 minutes of gabby stimulation followed by craving for more coke
Heroin: 6 hours of warm fuzzy floatiness

Either of those sound like X? Not hardly... I think if anyone I knew said X was coke plus heroin, I would have to physically strike them in some way... not out of anger, just to shake something loose.

This is up there with the whole "undercover cops have to tell you they're cops if you ask them" thing. I once got in a 20 minute argument with someone over that one... finally gave up and said "fine, dude, you keep asking people if they're cops and then selling them drugs, let me know how you enjoy your new career making license plates".

ketaman, I don't think there is any substantial evidence of marijuana being physically addictive, just some studies that show signs of "withdrawl symptoms" from MJ.

hahaha that makes me laugh, and heres my story about that.

this girl I know said this on the subject : "if E pills ain't coke then how come they make me talk so much like coke? HUH?!"

I just kinda gave up on that one...

You can't beat that logic. :D

it sounds like a lost cause.

go into cannabis discussion and search for "addictive" or "addiction" and read the threads there.

Ugh, happens ALL THE TIME. It's SOO annoying. But I don't speak up because I don't want everyone looking at me like some kind of druggie.........

I don't like it, and I speak up. I read erowid and PDR's for fun, though. I just don't want anyone to get hurt doing something fun.

During our lecture on drugs in my neuropsych class my professor stated that "psilocybin is a type of cactus just like mescaline, which is where LSD comes from." My jaw dropped. And she spelled cannabis "cannibus."

Then she cited the retracted Ricuarte study when she declared that "MDMA causes massive brain damage and fries serotonin receptors."

I'm too shy to say anything in class, and my professor was too dumb for me to even waste my time explaining to her how wrong she was and why. I'm not sure how she ever got her Ph.D or is in anyway qualified to teach a neuropsychology class that has a lot to do with drugs.

It's hard to speak up, especially about drugs because then everyone will know you're a drug user. At the time, my clothing/appearance just screamed stoner and I wasn't willing to risk getting anxious when I knew the prof would just argue with me.

Someone told my girlfriend recently that Mescaline was a poison. He tells her misinformation constantly. People like that infuriate me.
When I hear people spreading misinformation I explain to them in as calm a manner possible that they are wrong and I try to tell them the truth.
If they debate me I give them a resource where they can find out that they are wrong and medicine has said so...
Idiots upset me. They upset me a lot.

actually, he was right. mescaline is a poison. as paracelsus, the father of toxicology, once wrote: "everything is poison, there is poison in everything. only the dose makes a thing not a poison".

^ The problem is most people don't have a passion about drug knowledge and don't care about the truth anyways.

Im currently in a Drugs and Behavior course, and I swear Im the smartest person in the room. Some questions asked were...

"Dont you become addicted to heroin after one shot?"
"Whats the difference between Ecstasy and E pills?"
"Why do people do meth if they know it will ruin their lives?"

Those were from last night, and made me pissed. Ive also had to hear the teacher explain that cocaine and opium are not from the same plant. One person argued with me that you could not take a drug through the skin (transdermally) or under the tongue (sublingually). Sometimes I wonder how these people (many of them taking this class towards there MAs) could be so ignorant.

It turns a class Id otherwise enjoy into a mess of people asking stupid questions

Yeah, definitely know this feeling. I was in a chemistry lab, and everyone was using the word acid a lot, so i made a small joke about LSD. Next thing i know, some kid yells out "Acid is the worst thing you can possibly due to yourself, it ruins your brain." Before i could tell him how wrong he was, my teacher cut me off saying that he was right, and lsd "will destroy your brain." I was speechless....a chemistry teacher....*sigh*

yes and it's kind of stupid for us drug users to expect non drug users to know everything we know about drugs.

I overheard two classmates talking about opium once, and one of them told the other that it's classified as a "psychadelic" 8)

Of course that's just one of many, many instances

A person actually said that there can be "NO SUCH THING AS RESPONSIBLE DRUG USE"

I think the obvious retort to this is "Do you think there's any such thing as responsible mountain climbing?" (Or football playing, or stock-car racing, or any other intrinsically dangerous recreational activity).

Recreational drug use is seen as intrinsically "bad" in a way that no other activity really is, so statements like "there's no such thing as responsible drug use" or "weed is the gateway drug" etc. can pass for logic. But they're only logical if you accept the premise that there is no valid reason to use drugs, i.e. that wanting to have fun is not a valid reason to expend resources or take risks. Obviously, this is not a premise that is applied to any other walk of life. People spend their hard-earned money buying video games and going to movies; isn't that the ultimate in irresponsible waste?

Beautifully Stated...!
