I don't get glowsticks

It's really not hard to learn how. You just practice. Play your favorite trance song, and spin them around a little bit. If you do it for like, 15 minutes a day you will be pretty good in a month. When I'm real stoned i like to practice as well.

I Cant dance without glowsticks!!! and whoever the fuck said they make the "Scene" look bad is in the wrong "Scene" Glowsticks are GOD at raves. I love giving people lightshows, and just watching their faces.

i quite like watching people wave poi about too but get the fear cause i think im going to get hit!! only good for big venues and outdoors really i suppose, as for being too old......never!!! going out this weekend to a psy trance night where you get handed glowy things to wear as you go in :)

theres nothing better than standing on the stage rushing your face off dancing with glowsticks in each hand...

they (help) *make* the scene... who said they make it look bad? thats the biggest load of bullshit i've ever heard.

i fucking LOVE lightshows when i used to roll.. wen id go to raves, id basicly jus smoke cigarettes n watch lightshows :D their amazing.. especially if u can get ur hands on those 3D glasses.. holy fuck.
Last rave i went to, this dude had these new toys called like sphere-spinners or somethin, their like a little dome with a handle, and inside its got like 8 different colors taht spin around very fast, he gave me a lightshow with 3d goggles, and it was so intense that i almost passed out :D

Wow, amazing the responses, I don't really have a problem with them, but I don't have a problem with many things, they're just so... 1998 now (Perth, Aus) people just laugh at them if they're at raves, they're like dude, is this your first time or something... Like I said I don't have a problem, so long as everyone is enjoying themselves then its all good...

Oh wow I fucking LOVE glowsticks. I always buy about 4-6 before a party and i play with them all night. The saddest part of the night is when my glowsticks die down. Fuck the people who say glowsticks make the scene look bad. IMO the glowsticks are part of the scene.

^^

A friend of mine has a pair of battery-powered glowsticks. They were a bit pricey but he managed to get them when the store (can't remember which) went out of business.

They run on small camera-type batteries and use LED's, so the batteries last almost FOREVER.

Very cool toys.

Fuck people who say glowsticks make the scene look bad. Its uptight pricks with opinions like that who make the scene look bad. Glowsticks totally blow my mind. I had never really paid much attention to them until I was rolling once at a club and happened to see a bunch of people dancing with them. I was like a moth to a flame...

^
i concur i have never really noticed glowsticks until i rolled and was at a club and people were giving me lightshows and it was truly amazing.

if it makes you feel good and looks cool who gives a fuck what other people think?

I don't know... have you guys never watched anyone spin fire...with...fire? That tops glowsticks, as far as I'm concerned.

A friend of mine has chains with 3 balls... when he spins that shit, it's almost too intense. I can't even imagine what it's like for him....because he's usually on acid when he does it. Reality loss are two words that come to my mind.

I suppose it's about 10 times more dangerous than glowsticks, but, hey, at least we usually keep water around? 0_o

^^ I think your understating a little there. Fire Spinning is way more dangerous than spinning 'sticks. All a glowstick will do is give you a bruise or a little scrap/cut, the other can set you on FIRE!

That's more than just 10 times more dangerous, IMO.

In any case, I'll stick to my photons. There's nothing like a good tripped out photon show.

=D

There's nothing particularly different about them when you're rolling than when you're sober,
Nothing could be further from the truth. Glowsticks look competely differant when you are really rolling. For me, and for most people I know, glowsticks when used by someone who knows what they are doing will kick in a roll or bring you back up when you are comming down.
I can see why some people don't like it when people put glowsticks in there face, that is very annoying. It is not the glowsticks at fault though, it is the rude behavior.
And this stuff about glowsticks being so out of style or so 1992 (?) or such is lame. Are we trying to follow trends here? C'mon shiny shirt boys, lighten up. One of the great things about rolling and the rave culture is that it offers people the chance to be themselves, could we not take that away just yet?

getting lightshows while simultaneously being massaged by a bitch in her underwear on halloween to paul van dyk (monster massve) live was enough to make me a convert.

i respect glowstickers that know their stuff too (gs.com people), cause its pretty fucking hard
