Yeah if this poll where literally all of BL, or all of the drug users on BL, it wouldn't be even close. I think there would be way less drug IV'ers, as there are only a few drugs that are commonly used via that ROA and that only makes up a certain percentage of the members. A large percentage no doubt, but definitely not the majority.

I shot up some free dope last night...dont regret it or anything but i hadnt touched a rig in like 6 years. There are final hits, then there are FINAL hits. Also practically saved someone from oding. Crazy night

Shooting up. "I'm gnarly bro" and the Ego

The hidden agenda run by the ego. It has come to me after all these years of using the needle that one may believe they are better than others because they use a needle. I'm not talking about feeling like a piece of shit, although I do acknowledge that feeling, as well as all the other feelings that come along with IV drug users which is a wide spectrum.

I sincerely have started to believe that one of the main reasons I am addicted to using a needle, is that in my own head it is the only thing that gives me satisfaction. Of course this is some what obvious as any needle user probably would prefer to use their drugs no other way once they have used IV, but what I am talking about is the egoic principle behind it. The thought that we may not realize, but that which makes us feel like we are more gnarly, or more hardcore than others for the simple fact that we use needles. I my self believe I am a hardcore and intense person, and that there are not many people that can keep up on my level... then again that may be a thought fueled by my extensive drug use, and in most cases probably is. The fact that I feel like I am hardcore, I must use a needle. I use a needle because I am hardcore, and I use it to feel like I am more hardcore than anyone.(even if no body even knows that I am using drugs, let alone needles) I mean really, what is more 'crazy' than injecting drugs? At least when you compare it to someone that doesn't use drugs, or even people that use drugs but don't use a needle.

Think about it, do you think that you are hardcore, and using needles gives you that sense of satisfaction that, yes, I am hardcore. Because I use this needle?

Anyways, just wanted to share that because I had never really thought about it that way before.

^ Word.

Wait this was first posted in ADD? Why on earth? 8o

And on topic, imo there's nothing badass or cool about banging dope or any other drug. I switched to IV due to tolerance and while my habit quickly spiraled even further out of control I had no delusions.. Drug addiction is a depraved and lonely road.

I held the same belief about the needle for a long time. I looked down on people who only snorted drugs. I would think to myself "look at them wasting drugs. Wasting money".

Yea... their's nothing scary about the possibility of serious infection or contracting AIDS from the one time your to f*cked up to care if you share a needle...

Please, once you start IV'ing, your not going to go back. It is no longer recreational, what are you gonna IV in clubs? At work? IV'ing is stupid risk, and pretty much what happens when you become enough of an addict that your only concern is getting as much out of your drug as possible.

Statements like this bother me. It's simply not true - as many of the posts in this thread can attest, some people are capable of IVing only occasionally, without making habit of it. I started IVing mostly out of curiosity, and in nearly 13 years of drug use I doubt Ive IVed more than 20-30 times. Add IM ketamine, another 20-30 injections. I don't have track marks. I don't regret my IV use, in fact, I found all of my experiences worthwhile. I will IV or IM again, if I have reason or desire to. For medical reasons I receive IM lidocaine injections 1-3x a week; I've probably had 200 such injections, without infection or damage. I prepare the injections myself. I've always viewed injection as a medical procedure and I've never understood the stigma against it. Binge drinking is socially acceptable, but IVing a nontoxic substance isn't? Truly mind boggling.

I think pbuilder was refering to heroin...

There's a huge difference between being able to control IV ketamine use and IV heroin. If you've tried heroin IV and were able to only due it a few times, consider yourself very lucky. And don't be foolish enough to try it again.
The fact is, it takes your habit to a whole new depth. I experienced intense cravings for heroin after picking up the needle that I had never experienced before. And even after switching to MMT, I still have a needle fixation.
And I used to be extremely terrified of needles.. it was a fear that I had for a decade at least.

Actually some people who don't like opiates can get into IV ketamine and get addicted to it, it's just not as common as IV heroin use in America.

Most people who play around with needles and IV heroin or cocaine or methamphetamine end up getting addicted, usually sooner rather than later, if you happen to be part of the %1 of people who can shoot hard drugs occasionally, congratulations.....It's really not hard for me to understand the stigma associated with IV drug-use.

I don't consider myself to be a "scumbag", and certainly not every IV user is, but someone I found out was an IV drug user most likely wouldn't be on the top of my list of people to call to house-sit for me when I was out of town!

Not every IV drug user is a thieveing, lying, crazy person with bad hygiene, but a lot of them are! To get offended is kinda funny....

I've never heard of a a "stigma" associated with using hypodermic needles used in a medical setting and I don't think anybody was talking about that....

"You got a flu shot the other day?! I'm gonna make sure I never leave anything valuable around you!"...lol

I don't disagree with that CH, I'm sure IV ket can be addictive to some. I just mean that IVing some drugs are going to be much more addictive than others overall.

^Ha, yeah my post was more directed at "fairynymph", who doesn't understand why IV drug-users are generally considered "junkies".....
