Misc How has OD helped you?

I probably would have OD'd on atropine trying to abuse Lomotil had it not been for OD. I think that was my first post on BL, in fact.

Also the people I've talked to in the OD forum have been an excellent source of support for me, particularly when I was going through the worst phase of my dope habit.

I'm sure I could think of more ways that it's helped me, but those are the ones that spring to mind.

I believe that OD is a valuable part of this site and that you guys do a great job. I would have to send a special thanks to Captain.Heroin for all of his valuable advice.

Here I learned how to channel Benzo use into something that has greatly improved my quality of life socially and mentally. Now being prescribed Klonopin has helped me with a lot of things in my life and the advice I got on here helped me curve away from abuse. :)

I agree, Captain.Heroin is an awesome helper. He helped me figure out dosing and ROA for morphine, and gave me a bunch of tips and helpful info, even though I could have theoretically found all the info via search with enough perseverance.

Sometimes even though the info is out there, it's helpful to have someone with all the info in their head tailor an answer unique to your situation.

Overall Bluelight OD has helped me learn tons more about drugs, which has influenced my decisions on which drugs to try, which to avoid, and how to keep from doing too little or (more importantly) too much. I'd surely be worse off if it weren't for Bluelight, and I hope that it continues to help others as much as it's helped me! :D

Also in response to SmokeTrails:

Don't blame others for your actions. We are all responsible for what we do. BL is here for harm reduction. Let's be honest: You didn't one day decide to shoot up just because you found the procedure on BL. You decided to shoot up and the info on BL enabled you to do it properly, without hurting or killing yourself.

Saying that BL causes more harm than good is like saying a library causes more harm than good. Information doesn't cause harm, it helps prevent harm.

Reminds me of the mothers who blame violent video games for their children's violent behavior. *rolls eyes*

OD and Bluelight in general have been very helpful for me. I started using about 10 months ago (basically every pharm) but was interested in drugs before then. I started doing research on the internet and eventually discovered bluelight. At first I was shocked by threads on here (eg. How to IV coke) but then I realized that this is the place to get FACTS from ACTUAL USERS. When I decided to start using drugs I would ALWAYS check bluelight on dosing etc. I have only IV'd maybe 5 times in total and without bluelight I for sure would've hurt myself. Learning how to IV from this site probably saved my life.

I know for a fact that my life was saved by bluelight when I overdosed on fentanyl. I have a trip report on it if you want to read it, but I remember reading on bluelight that stimulants can help counteract the effects of opiates (think speedball) so I popped some Dexedrine and it saved me from dying. The knowledge on this site is tremendous and I am so thankful for everyone who contributes, everyone. Bluelight also instructed me about the dangers of abusing drugs/addiction and is the reason that I am able to keep my drug use simply that, use not abuse. I am not addicted nor plan on getting addicted and I have you guys to thank for that.

This is my favourite website, the whole community feels like a family to me and I appreciate all that you guys do!

Stay safe,
OC80's

ok there was a thread on how to fake kidney stones and other ailments to get pain meds on this site a loooong time ago. phreex posted it. i really dont feel like going through thousands of posts to prove myself right, but it is there, unless you guys deleted it. if you did delete it... well... it was up for awhile to say the least. the rule enforcement on bluelight has changed considerably over the years. the atmosphere on OD IMO is a lot different then it was a few years back.

teaching me how to become an operational junkie and deal with withdrawals are all good things i learned from this site. that cant even be argued.

i think a lot of you guys got what i said twisted. im not blaming BL for getting me turned on to heroin. im just sayin that before i came to bluelight this whole world wasnt even on my radar. seems like the more romanticized stories i read the more i wanted to try the things i had read about here. once again im not blaming anyone for anything that ive done... im just kinda thinking back to when i joined.

yeah the part about teaching me to cop on the hood is somewhere else on bluelight... or phile.. i forget which site, but your correct its not in OD... my mistake.

im not trying to belittle the work any of the OD members have done. the cold water extraction method def saved my life. i easily could have killed myself had i not known about that. i know if i had not read the injection walkthrough i would have had serious injection complications by now. hell... last night i met a girl who had been slamming dope for 2 months and didnt realize she had to filter shots =/

once again im not trying to start problems or rile people up. im not saying OD is bad. im not trying to blame yall ;)

Interesting...I had no idea that PhreeX had posted anything like this. I bet that if it isn't in the OD Archive, then it's probably closed/unapproved, or something of that nature.

Since we do have the rule that we don't post about "how to 'scam' doctors/hospitals" I'll make a brief search for such a thread, and possibly try to locate it. I'm not sure if I'll find it, but I think it's worth looking for.

I'm really glad that you helped her out by telling her/showing her how to cotton filter. :)

It's great when harm reduction advice spreads from Bluelighters to non-Bluelighters, because not everyone is on this website that uses drugs/injects drugs, etc.

I am also happy to hear you have successfully avoided injection complications! That's great news. I also have probably avoided horrendous injection complications by the help of this website. %)

yeah man. i know for a fact that post exists. i remember it in vivid detail. bluelight now feels much more centered around harm reduction then it did when i joined.

also i kinda think everything i posted where positive things i learned from OD... i dont see how any of that stuff was negative.

oh man... that girls arms looked like she had been shooting dope for years. it was horrible. i gave her the URL to this site.

oh another thing that come because of this site just dawned on me. the majority of my friends call me now asking me all sorts of questions if this is ok to do with that. most people tend to call me if they are having problems with substances, its kinda funny actually.

Edit: the original thread has been removed, but there are many other threads ive found refering to it. i guess at some point new management decided it was against the ever changing enforcement policy.

I've learned suboxone can be used as naloxone is an Emergency (in conjuction with 911 of course)

No dude not in conjunction. Its scary to me that you say that. Bupe is a last resort only. As in you're 2 hours in the desert and your buddy overdoses. If you're near EMS then use it, first. There are too many younger bluelighters afraid to get in trouble that may think they should try that first.

This is what you should do http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=448252

Out of desperation, absolutely use bupe. In conjunction, not so much.

Back on topic. I have learned a lot here. Especially about suboxone and withdrawal. I get what smoke trails is saying too though. I'm the only one accountable for my actions but, knowledge is power and an addict with more drug knowledge can take it in many different directions. I have definitely tried things I probably wouldn't have otherwise but, there's nothing you can really do about that save separate the forum into a billion sub forums.

I gotta say though the BA thread is great but, where's the HR in that? Shooting is the end all for BA so its not like its supportive of healthier roa.

I think you misunderstood me johnny blue.

When I said in conjuction I mean you should always call 911 also and not rely on suboxone alone. . . In fact 911 is always the first thing you do, but sometimes they are slow for reasons like the one you mentioned....in this case you could try bupe since 911 aint makin it in time......Call 911, if they arent showing up in time for whatever reason you could use bupe, it would be in conjuction because you did both.

nowhere, nowhere in that thread did I suggest you should use bupe in attempt to reccesitate before calling 911.....I dont know how anyone drew that conclusion, but sorry if it read that way....I should have clearly stated that bupe should not be used untill after 911.

One of the main things I've learned from the Other Drugs forum is not to buy drugs that you need the Other Drugs forum to use.

OD has taught me a lot about safe IV technique (I probably would've shot into an artery years ago without those maps), referenced me to countless legit journal articles about all sorts of pharmacology, shown me many examples of the junkie plight (really helped me feel less alone), been a great source of general information/experience, and allowed me to feed the need without the needle since getting clean, by reading.

Never would've heard of a micron filter, buprenorphine, or needle exchange programs without OD. Those alone justify its existence.

Maybe that is how it has helped you, but I do think that this comment gives a bit of a defeatist aura to the OD forum...

One can use drugs discussed in this forum to better themselves as well. Benzos, opiates, maintenance opiates, etc., all have proper uses that truly can help people in their lives.

I gotta say though the BA thread is great but, where's the HR in that? Shooting is the end all for BA so its not like its supportive of healthier roa.

The BA thread gives absorption relative to IV, so that you can tell the most efficient way to take a drug excluding IV if that is how you wish to use the information... That absolutely supports healthier drug administration...

Anytime I was scared of ODing, Bluelight was there to reassure me. The mods and regular members always could put things in perspective, showing me I was just panicking. If it wasn't for this site I would have been prescribed Xanax for panic attacks and I would get addicted to those. Luckily, this forum is here. And all of the knowledge, knowing you can go here and get the RIGHT answer, unlike advice from idiots on the street, is really priceless.

I want to thank everyone on this forum, sorry I couldn't remember specific names (I know Cap. Heroin was one) that helped me with all my various drug related questions. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

I see what your saying. Prolly should have thought out a better response for this thread. The people that make up OD have taught me to respect the substances discussed here.

Im not saying I'm "above" a week of eating xanax or anything like that but OD has shown me that it can't and won't last forever.

If you are used to snorting heroin, and don't know its bioavailability, what number do you compare to 100 for shooting? If you wanted to try shooting, and overestimated how potent snorting it was, you could very easily shoot too much.

Furthermore, the BA/HL mega thread isn't necessarily promoting IV use; I only commonly use it when I'm about to try a new drug, and I'd like to see if the oral/sublingual BA is higher than the other. The last time I used it, I wanted to see the most effective way to use triazolam. I used it sublingually, and got 9% more BA that way.

It's known the IV BA of all drugs is 100, we don't need the BA thread for that, it's listed a lot of places in Other Drugs.

Well said, Bollweevil.

i can see how people saw what you said and got the wrong idea, glad you cleared that up. i also know the thread you're referring to but i'm sure it's been deleted now. there's been significant changes in the boards rules over the years.

everyone just remember this is a positive thread, not a place for dumping your opinions that we're promoting more harm by accessing such things we do to people. we don't make the decision for them stick the needle in their arm, we just help them do it safely as possible.

i initially came to bluelight around the same time as you and remember the thread and agree with you and feel that OD is centred around HR a lot more currently.

OD's helped me learn the proper IV technique and how to treat complications that can happen from it. i learnt about micron filters, as well as the procedure for storing a larger volume in sterile solution. it's also helped me learn about to human cardiovascular system and other organs, etc and how they work.

it's taught me about other routes of administration and their BA's to do with many different drugs.

i've learnt about dangerous combinations of drugs which shouldn't be taken in combination.

i've learnt(experienced) about addiction and how to deal with withdrawal symptoms and alleviate other associated symptoms through not only other drugs but alternative treatments.

i've met some great people through this forum who've been there in times of support online and in real life.

that's just the tip of the iceberg and all i can think of at the moment - OD has taught me a lot and it's been a pleasure being able to give back.

This forum has changed a lot since when I first started lurking in 2005. Its become more regulated and a lot less shit talking occurs. Good job mods.

It taught me how to correctly do quite a bit. I've learned techniques that saved time, money and health. I know ROA's & Bioavailabilities off the top of my head. And most importantly I learned in depth about the mechanism and half-life of the drugs I use and combine. Which is very useful when someone is popping downers like pez.

Thank You Bluelight.
