Heroin/Oxycontin Cotton shots

Im also guilty of "cotton shooting" when desperate.... I've saved like 15-20 of em and smashed em with the tip of the spike (the orange cap) til it looked pretty dark and amber-like.... I like to (if I can) use two rigs for this operation.... one for the re-loading of water to add to the cottons, and one for the actual pulling back of the dope, and the rig you're actually going to shoot with.... if anyone can relate, which I'm sure you can, you usually gotta keep re-adding more liquid to the cottons to get the most of out of it, or atleast the fiend in me does!

Never got cotton fever, and hope to God I never do....... and I have done this (shooting cottons) hundreds of times..... guess I'm lucky? Dunno

It's not kinda the same thing at all. Pointing a gun at your head and pulling the trigger doesn't relieve opiate withdrawls. Well, unless you're planning on doing a Kurt Cobain. If pointing a gun at your head and pulling the trigger resulted in POSSIBLE discomfort but PROBABLE withdrawal relief, i'm sure it would be a more common occurence.

And any number of discomforting facts are at a large risk of being ignored by the human brain when it's decided it need to get it's pleasure centres stimulated.

man, i went through hellish withdrawals, and should i tell you what my thought on cottons was: "I'd rather stay alive and have another real shot than killing myself with something that isn't even worth it's risk. Fuck that, if i relapse then let it be right..."

i believe someone would not shoot cottons cause he wants to quit. If i relapse i go and score some smack. You do it because you have no money or no hookup. And in that case, yes, i'd rather withdraw and wait till i have dope again, and can feel high again. Cause after that shot i feel like some chick gave me a lapdance, and then quit halfway through. It's just gonna prolong the missery by a tiny unsignificant notch, and in the end, the withdrawals you face won't just go away cause you shot cottons. I bet in ~10 hours you will try to shoot the same cottons over and over again. Just don't...I don't take the risk of killing myself if i know some day i can have another shot that is gonna be oh so good.

Just throw away the cottons man, just to rid you off any remaining temptation.

You aren't going to die from cotton fever and it requires no medical attention, it solves itself....

I think you're being a little overdramatic rave23.

Also, anyone can store cottons relatively safely. Just check the package when you buy the cottons and make sure it says "Sterile" on them - almost all cottons, q-tips, cotton wads, balls, et cetera, are sterile, except for the no-name generic kinds. After that, just store them in an airtight container at least.

I toss my cottons in a little medicine bottle after using them, which I keep in my stash box.

Works fine for me, I've never had any fever. Only once I had a slight immune system reaction that lasted like 2 hours, but that was from using cottons I had left out in the open.

Oxy Cotton Shots

So I saw the thread on Heroin cotton shots and it made me think of this thread. Besides a fun play-on words, I was wondering who's tried this and how well it works? I reckon i'm gonna try it here in a little bit. As anyone who shoots OCs knows, afterwards there is a decent film of residue left in the spoon. Depending on how much is left in there, you can get a pretty decent shot by adding water to the residue and cooking it up. However, I've never tried to take the used cottons and and do them like a H cotton shot. So I'm just looking for any opinions/experiences. As for anyone who's curious, I'll let you know how it goes. Also, if anyone would like to tell me what causes cotton fever, I'd be interested to know. My guess is bacteria in the cotton but idk. Thanks.

P.S. I understand the risks involved so all the people who want to flame should just do it on the other cotton shots thread, where you might catch someone who cares. I don't condone this, I'm just going to do it.

where is center when you need him =D?
Lets all summon Center, in the name of harm reduction, he needs to speak a word here !!!

Maybe i am overdramatic, but most people are just slobs when it comes to storing / disposing cottons and leaving them out in the open. So why take the risk, unless you know better, like you, and can practice safe guidelines :)

It's not that hard. I mean you stash your needles and dope right? Just keep like a pill bottle there for your cottons ;O

That residue has no oxycodone in it, that's only binders and fillers. Good way to kill yourself.

Cottons have drug in them because of the residual water. You can do cotton shots with Oxycodone cottons just like dope. And just like dopeshots, you'll need at least 5 cottons for anything.

Just use them to supplement your last shot, not as a way to get high.

Dear god, never add heat to any pills.

There are so many binders in pills, when you heat it up they will dissolve into the solution and then resolidify in your fucking lungs and blood stream. Use cold water with pills, and let that dangerous, solid goop be.

Dumb people always say to heat it up, all they are doing is heating up the bullshit that's dangerous to inject. The oxycodone itself dissolves easily in cold water.

most junkies i know stuff everything they own down their pockets or have it flying all over the place at their "house" =D

Seems like you are around a good circle of people... I am more on a "street level" with all the people, and the people i meet there really don't even know that they have to use a new needle all the time, and use them for a week or so. So go ahead and tell them about getting high from cottons... Trust me, these people are different. If you can keep em clean and have the discipline, by all means, sure. But just not with what i see every day. If you tell them about a cheap high from using dirty cottons, whole downtown will drop dead within days like fruit flies :\

If you must do this (although I don't think you will get much out of it), save your cottons in a sealed, sterile container in you freezer, to slow down bacterial growth.
Damn, this idea disgusts me.

Have you ever been addicted to IVing opiates? Anyone fiending hard enough going through that sort of addiction wouldn't think twice about it...

Out of all the addicts I've met in real life, not a single one saved their cottons.

I'm always tempted to ask them for their cottons but I don't want to catch the hivity.

Well, I tried it but it was disappointing. There were some effects but they were minimal. It was about what I thought. I probably won't try it again, simply because it's a waste of time. I think I'll just stick to the residue method.

Sorry, but you are very wrong. The residue definitely contains oxycodone within it. i've done my above procedure many times with quality results. I cannot justify that it is safe or healthy, but for anyone who does IV's oxy, it's a great way to get a shot when you have no other option. As far as heating the water/pill mixture, I always do.(Note that the only pill I IV are OC's) I understand the risks you guys propose from the binders that may be added from dissolving with heat, but here are a few points.
What exactly are the ingredients contained in a Brand name OC other than Oxycodone and paraffin wax?
I heat the pill/water mix, but I then let it cool, so wouldn't that negate the point that these insolubles would resolidify in my blood? And in this case, how do we know that these "binders" aren't water soluble to begin with? Are we sure that the only water-soluble component to an OC is the Oxycodone?
I'd love for anyone with answers to these questions to post them, as I am very curious, but please list your sources to give your answers some standing.

I've been doing this my way for more than a year with no problems, but who knows, perhaps I'll drop dead tomorrow. I heat the mix because I feel like it makes sure I get the most out of my shot. It feels like that, because I'm melting the paraffin wax, I am freeing any oxy locked inside. Then, when it cools I am left with an oxycodone solution and a layer a paraffin wax. I am going to try the method without heat and see if I notice a difference and I'll report back.

in my experience, it's useless to try and get a shot from cottons you've used to inject pills. the thing is, i only shoot subutex (bupe) and havlane (water-soluble benzo), plus some promethazine or diphenhydramine. there's way too much shit that's not the bupe or the benzo left in the cotton, you can never get a good shot from that.
the only success i had with cotton shots was when i was shooting heroin, but that's not what you're discussing here. as for your questions about what else could be water soluble in an OxyContin pill, i'd be interested to hear that if anyone knows.

Most pills contain a good deal of microcrystalline cellulose as a binder. It is Insoluble in water and alcohol.

It has been shown that injection of this material is extremely bad for the entire circulatory system.

" Clinically, individuals who crush oral medications and inject them intravenously (or through a central port, as in this case) can develop a multinodular pattern on chest radiograph and chest CT that can be associated with a progressive decline in PFTs. Repeated insults can lead to dyspnea, pulmonary hypertension, and death. Proving this diagnosis may be a challenge in a patient who is legitimately prescribed narcotics for pain but adamantly denies intravenous drug abuse. Although crystalline material has been reported from precipitation of total parenteral nutrition fluid components, recognition of characteristic histologic features of oral-tablet constituents such as microcrystalline cellulose and povidone on a lung biopsy specimen leads to a definitive diagnosis."

The full case study the above was quoted from can be found here.

Injecting pills is extremely bad for you, period.
