Heroin/Oxycontin Cotton shots

you cant give sombody shit for trying to feel better,damn ....now if you do dumb shit like collecting about 30 cottons from IV'n methadone that are laying around your room and squezing all of them into one spoon and end up shaking like a squirell who chewed through a powerline then you can say they are dumb :)

or digging out a very dull 26g needle from the trashcan ,after picking up the cottons from shotting suboxone over about 2 weeks and walking on them etc and shooting them is somthing stupid...yes i had HORRID cottin fever from that night ,i have only had it from doing really stupid shit like i showed above,but i have shot dope cottin tons of time without problem

unless you are very sensitive then unless you do dumb shit like i did above you should be ok imo,but do stay clean ,everyones been a fiend every once in a while
 
i always save my cottons and use them when i'm sick. if you don't your wasting your dope.. but now that i've read all these stories about cotton fever i think i'll not be doing that any more.. scary i didn;t even know you could get sick from saving your cottons.
 
post like this and the post remember people who have o.d makes me count my lucky stars i no longer have to shoot cottons and all the stupid shit i used to do when i was hardcore using... its so true that when your addicted to smack you dont give a shit about yourself....

i want to use everyday of the week...i dont think that will ever change

my temp went to 42...as in my normal temp is 37.5 (these are degrees celcius)

higher the temp = colder you feel

p.s. what exactly is cotton fever? i gather its your body raising its temperature to fight a foreign body and make sure it doesnt cause an infection? no?
 
Yes, a fever is common with cotton fever. As is with other infectious diseases that cause an immune system response.

He's talking 42 degrees C, not farenheit, which is a very significant fever.

If you live in Europe and the UK (which unfortunately I do not) you have access to Stericups (to cook) and Sterifilters (and citric acid) through harm reduction centers.

This is why I'm glad I don't shoot heroin. Too complicated.
 
I've done it a couple times in the past, i'm glad those days are over. A friend did it one time and got cotton fever. Came into my room all shaking and shit. Scared me to death. I'm glad that shit never happened to me. Definitely solidified me never having to be put in that situation where a cotton shot would end my W/D's.
 
I can't get anywhere off of cottons seeing as my tolerance is gigantic, but back in the day I used to get off on my saved up cottons, sure thing.

And to dude who said that chinacat is a dirty junkie, well... you've obviously never been dopesick. When you are, come back and I can guarantee you'll have a different outlook.

I'm not tryin to be hostile here, just honest. When you feel like you're starving and suffocating and dying of thirst all at once, like every cell in your body is screaming in agony, like you'r being torn apart and your bones feel like they have a vice attached to each end and they're pulling puliing pulling your bones apart then you'll understand. It's a junkie thing.

This topic has done before, and the general consensus was that you can safely shoot cottons if you store them in a freezer and airtight.

Personally I just make sure my cottons are dry and store them in an airtight, cool place, and they do fine. I know it's a bad practice but I use sterile cottons and ah whatever. I'm a druggie, so shoot me.

Cotton fever comes from non-sterile cottons, it's some sort of bacteria that grows on cotton. Cotton pickers used to get them all the time from picking cotton all day long.

Also note that cotton fever comes from nonsterile cottons you buy. There is something similar you can get from injecting a cotton with sorts of bacteria on it that's NOT cotton fever - it's exactly the same but only lasts a couple hours in duration.

To avoid this, just don't like pick cottons off your bathroom floor.

But I'd say if you stick them in an airtight container immediately afterwards and make sure they aren't dripping wet, they are relatively safe to re-use.
 
Yes, Iv used my old cottons to get a shot. Iv never expierenced cotton fever or any other things from reuseing my cottons.........yet. Iv always used q tips, and never anything like a cigerette filter.

I just put them together(the more the better) in a spoon(I always use the same spoon) and squish the hell out of them and add just a little heat and then filter through a new cotton. Sometimes you can get a decent shot depending on how much you have saved up.

Re-using cottons isn't that bad. You only get cotton fever if you use unsterile cottons. Just make sure you're cottons always says "Sterile" on the package.

Now, there are other types of bacterial infections you can get from injecting old cottons. The effects are exactly the same as cotton fever but only last much shorter.

Cotton fever and the similar bacteria triggering the auto-immune response are not deadly, they are just pretty uncomfortable.

I forget the name of the other type of sickness. But cotton fever lasts like 12+ hours or something or even days, while the other sickness is like a couple hours.

But if you keep the cottons dried out in an airtight and cool place, preferably a freezer but whatever, then you should be pretty okay. It's not the best thing, but it's by no means the worst. It's like smoking resin...
 
come on, who of us uses "Sterile Cottons" that come in a neat little wrapper that you can just reseal airtight, and then puts it in the freezer 8)?

I know i am as sure as hell a "safe IV user", use swabs, alcohol and all that kinda jazz, no more than using a needle once and blah. I might as well just stop doing all that when i shoot cottons. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.
If i shoot filthy shit into my veins that has been down the garbage can, i do not need to bother with sterile injection. I might as well just take the needle that i found in the garbage bag, right?

And who is actually doing it, that has access to airtight containers, freezers and the discipline to keep on doing all the extra work to save the cottons?
I know most peope don't even have the time to let their dope disolve thoroughly, or to filter it more than once. So you're telling me they store all their cottons neatly in the freezer, wrapped up, and it was sterile to begin wiht 8)??? Right. Tell me if they are, cause then i am as sure as hell dreaming.

I'd rather do that, save up a 100 cottons, extract all the shit in there, evaporate it off and scrape up what's left of it. And then i DO NOT shoot that, but snort it. Seems somewhat more safe to me :\ Maybe you could sterilize that powder somehow, and then shoot it, but i would never ever attempt to shoot shit that i have slopily extracted from some bacteria-breeding-grounds...

It's not kinda the same thing at all. Pointing a gun at your head and pulling the trigger doesn't relieve opiate withdrawls. Well, unless you're planning on doing a Kurt Cobain. If pointing a gun at your head and pulling the trigger resulted in POSSIBLE discomfort but PROBABLE withdrawal relief, i'm sure it would be a more common occurence.

And any number of discomforting facts are at a large risk of being ignored by the human brain when it's decided it need to get it's pleasure centres stimulated.

Sam here. I used to do that when I was strung out and 9 times out of 10 I would end up with cotton fever. I would feel like shit. Chattering teeth, cold as hell, freezing cold, fever, muscles felt like shit. Do yourself a favor people and flush the cottons down the toilet or toss them down the drain to avoid the temptation. The risk of the fever is not worth it.
