Healthy Living Photo Thread

that's awesome! do you have any tips for a newbie wishing to make their own greens smoothies? can i just blend a bunch of frozen vegetables with water...? lol...

Bananas are your friend! They mask undesirable veggie tastes pretty well. I usually make minne 50% fruit and 50% veggies, in terms of eyeballed mass. Look up your local wild edibles, even just five leaves each of a variety is great compared to just chucking lettuce or spinach in everyday. Hence, no smoothie is ever the same round here! Sometimes I'll toss some tiny wild figs in and it will go purple. I create a 2-layer smoothie for serving amusement.

Don't shy away from edible herbs (I wouldn't go for those strictly made into infusions-- sometimes they are too tough or are best boiled). Basil is wonderful with tropical fruit.

If by any chance you live near a strip mall that doesn't carry that diverse a produce section, start with this: banana, apple, lettuce, ginger, and some raw honey or syrup (agave, coconut, etc.). You may not need the honey if you don't have it.

Cheers

All right, well he was suggesting it to ME. He can do whatever he wants but if someone suggests soy to me I'm going to express my disgust...

Alright, just keepin the mutual respekt :)

I like to mix bananas, watermelon, spinach, water, and a natural protein powder together for a nice natural, protein smoothie.

Sadly, I've been drinking too much toxic SHIT lately to feel good about my health... I seem to shift between total cleanliness and utter intoxication :\

This is precisely the pattern I seem to get stuck in as well Changed!! Why can't we just stick to healthy ALL the time, since it feels so much more amazing than the alternative.

Everyone's looking fantastic in here by the way! Loving all the new pics :) <3

Ja, I'm always like that. My friends say I keep myself healthy so I have room to totally do whatever I want without dying on the spot. Then again, I am on Bluelight, so that means something.

:p

We try, no?

I guess so-- I didn't realize a lot of other people do this too. :o

I looked long and hard for the current incantation of the photo thread and came up with nothing - so I thought I'd better make the latest version. :)

I subscribe to this thread and read every entry for motivation. I might not post very often, but I'm always reading up on everyone's progress.

The hiking posts of late have reminded me of my youth. I used to trek to the ocal mountain range (the Warby ranges for anyone within the region of my childhood, haha) with my best friend. We'd ride our bikes for 45 minutes to reach the national park and spend hours exploring and eating a packed lunch. They're some of my best memories. :)

To start this thread on the right foot, here's a current photo of my latest 'healthy' past-time;

Srs bsnss.

It's been great adding a range of arm exercises into my regime. I've realised I've neglected my upper-body a bit and have really been noticing some positive differences in my strength and muscle mass. It's absolutely kicking my arse, but in the best of ways. =D

Fuck! That is an absolutely amazing photo, and honestly the self critique/analysis is even hotter.

Ask youre trainer to teach you knuckle pushups.
1) Put self on first two knuckles ONLY. NO OTHER PART OF HAND. Do not let knuckles slide around, do not let wrists bend, do not let knuckles come off floor.
2) Fall down, push back up. Repeat as quickly as possible without changing hand position even a micron. while breathing in a relaxed manner. Dont use muscle to fall down, just drop and bounce off the knuckles.
3) Eat plenty of spinach and other high-calcium vegetables. Include seafood like crustaceans or shrimp, etc, in your diet - eat the shrimp shells and chew em up almost into liquid. hey, bugs are great to eat too! Chondroitin and glucosamine are much better absorbed when derived from a freshly killed animal, and not very effective when taken in pill form.

Soon the gloves will become an annoyance. No one will ever, ever tell you "you hit like a girl," as few men are disciplined enough to do this exercise daily. 3-4 years of this, and you can punch through concrete without hurting ur hands.

Once u got the knuckle pushups down, do some research on mantis pushups/mantis dips.

The outer appearance of your hands wont change much, except for sharp pointy bones for knuckles. The interior of your hands will become stronger than steel, with a grip that will put any creature down. I usually laugh out loud when someone tells me I have small or girly hands. Mantis hands rip out eyes, throats, ears, smash septums up into brains, smash temples, chop spines, etc in single strikes, but they just look like normal ol' hands.

Honestly if someone tried to fight me, the first thing I would do is take my gloves and shoes/boots off in one single stepping motion. It would be far too kind for my foot to hit my assailant with all the soft rubber padding of my shoes!

Autumn crops are in. (Well, we don't really get four seasons here in the subtropics). Yellow beans, climbing cucumber, broccoli, leeks and some lettuce to tides us over until harvest. The San Pedro is also ripe for the picking.

If that involves listening to psy and getting rid of my 2 Litre turbo then I say "Neigh".

Besides I think I throw too many latex gloves into land fill every day to qualify.

Wow. Everyone looks like they are having the time of their lives! Good job with your achievements. And Busty - Love the organization of your yard!

rm-rf: What awards are those? They look like some form of tae kwon do or another type of karate. I got rid of my awards; they took up too much space. :(
