Healthy Living Photo Thread

Everyone looks amazing in this thread so I'm a bit hesitant to post, but -

I'm on a diet now though, the objective is to lose 10kg. I was in an accident a couple years ago where I damaged my neck and I can't do sports anymore so I've gotten extremely out of shape and put on a lot of weight. I used to do judo at a national level so I would train 10-15 hours a week...I think a tiny bit of ab definition is left over from that? Haha.
Anyway hopefully in a month or two I'll be able to post an 'after' pic :)

prolly have too low bf%. train to get work on muscle but you shouldn't be cutting.

^yup. a majority of girls are far better served by training for strength than for weightloss IMO.
/note that, in training for strength/speed/etc, there's very typically a little reduction in bf% anyways *even if* the body is in an anabolic/growth state. sounds contradictory but it happens and is valid (it doesn't continue to happen, but in the beginning when the body's 'base' is being achieved there's very very commonly some light fat loss while muscle is grown, sounds weird but it is the case. people usually <mistakenly> refer to this as "toning", which it is absolutely not, but it does happen for most ppl that had normal bf% levels when they started)

isn't it due to the fact lean muscles requires more energy so the curve for calories out goes up real quick thus requiring more maintenance calories causing a decrease in body fat? I could be wrong though.

but if it were a caloric deficit causing it then lean mass wouldn't be sustained. IIRC it's because the body *does* use fat for fuel to a degree and, in going from untrained (or sedentary) to trained, and getting that 'base', the body goes makes that subtle drop in fat despite no overall deficit.
If anyone's an exer.sci or bio major perhaps they could elaborate. This is seen in a majority of ppl who begin training, though it's not something that's seen in ppl who begin training who already had very low bf%, nor is it something that continues too long into training, it's a pretty transient (but retained) phenomena.

all I know is I dropped about 2-3% bf when I started training hard and dieting. I'm just happy I did :). 30 inch waist gives me a good shape and the ladies be mirin. spring cut is gonna leave me around a 28-29 inch waist (I'm only 5' 6/5' 7" so I look alright with that small of a waist)

Thanks for the advice :) I don't really want to gain more muscle though as one of the things I don't like about my body is the excessive amount of muscle I've got left over from my judo days. You can't tell too much on here but it's in my arms/shoulders/neck especially and quite frankly it isn't the most 'feminine' thing so I don't want to risk making that even more prominent :\ I'd really just like a reduction in bf % and if I lose a bit of a muscle along with that I really wouldn't mind, do you still think training for strength is the way to go?

women lack the endogenous testosterone to really bulk and get muscular so you'll be alright.

^Yeah but the thing is I'd like to lose some of the muscle as well and I feel like that would be unlikely if I do lots of strength training :/ (not to mention the fact that we can bulk up, not as much as men obviously but still)

i'll answer you in another HL thread so we don't hijack this one ;P

Muscle rules! I have never heard anyone wanting to lose muscle. I'll take yours, Pagey.
22 lbs is a fuckton of weight to lose. Do what feels good/right for you.
I look forward to the after pic.

Uh where is AEP? I want to see her lady arms in this thread.

err, you want to add more or at a minimum maintain muscle AND ADD more body fat.

this is from a strictly healthy physiological perspective.

more body fat will give you the curves or feminine look. train for muscular endurance, if you are happy with your current strength, build stamina.

Haha I know, it's a bit weird. It's just that I've acquired the kind of stocky masculine muscles in my upper body and I think I'd look better with a bit less. Anyway, minus 22lbs is when I felt best about myself so yeah. :)

Because you are not fat, and do not need to be thinner to be healthy.

Well thanks, that's nice of you to say but I'm just not very comfortable with how I look right now - I've never been this heavy :/

Well after seeing you as skinny minnie at 14...keep the muscle, girlie!
I like a female with a defined upper body. You do not look masculine at all.
