I just want to guage and get an idea of how addictive opiates really are so I thought a poll would be a good way to do it.

Poll options:

1. Yes I have tried opiates, but less than 5 times.
2. Yes I have tried opiates more than 5 times and have not gotten addicted.
3. Yes I have tried opiates more than 5 times and gotten addicted
4. No I have not ever tried opiates.

Can a mod please make this into a poll?

When i got my wisdom teeth out i had got prescribed 60 vikes by the end i was taken them for fun but when i was out i didnt go seeking more, but it did cross my mind..

Started with opium then tried Oxycontin whent on to morphine, and then tried some codeine and tramadol a couple of times and then ketobemidonm then it was methadone and atlast heroin...

now a days i just do methadone and heroin once in a while but i have a stupid habit of taking binges til the stash is emty that what got me addicted,

i hope i can stick to just taking methadone rarely as im tired of dope, the prices the hustling and the people around it...

but after some weeks on a methadone binge the wd's came and that was no way funny!

yestoday it was 14 days since my last binge and of couse i had to celebrate it with a little treat to my self.. so got a little bit of methadone and i can allready feel the cravings to take the last dose... cruel cruel drugs :)

i was smoking heroin for about 5 months before i started to get a habit, that was because i went from using at the weekends to close to everyday... i have been detoxed on heroin but i still use.

don't use everyday, its bullshit saying you will be a junkie after one try... just don't be stupid on it if you don't want to find yourself with a HORRIBLE habit.

Started with Trams for my athritis, ignore dthem for months then tried and got wasted. Read about Oxy, tried cwe's then got prescribed DHC it was ok, tried that for a bit the asked to try Oxy got a script and loved it. Then hunted down some H and have ben using both for the last 14 months. I wanna quit soon.

started wiith otc codeine... quit 4 times, 4 times i started again... then moved on to IV morphine for a couple of months with some Heroin and tramadol mixed into the lot, then IV subutex.... now MMT down from 90mg to 60mg and going down every two weeks...

my down fall started with those little blue bastards (30mg Roxicodone) then sporadically touched Fentanyl (Actiq 800mcg), Dilaudid (8mg), and Opana IR (10mg).

Hey all! Basically I was started on opiates when my mother gave me a norco 10 after I had played in a hockey tournament. I am a goaltender so getting up and down, sprailing on the ice as if I had a slinky for a spine took it's toll. I had played 5 games in a ten hour period and as soon as my body cooled down I was in utter agony. Continplated going to the ER. Anyway to make a long story short my mother handed me a small pill and said to take it that it would help. It sure did help but it also started my 6 year addiction. I started by taking any loratab size I could find and was eating upwards of 20 or so a day which I didn't know was bad till now. Then one of my friends stole some 20mg oxys from his grandpa and that started my OC habit until I found heroin and that's where I am at. It's a horrible thing but I would never go back. I would do it all again the same way.

For this space face it all started with a football injury and some Tylenol 3's with codeine. I was in pain, took just one more than the recommended dose and discovered that, hey, these things are fun. That prompted research on the topic and here I am 6 years later, opiate-wise and several times physically dependent.

I just broke a 110-day no opiate streak with some nice pod tea. Here we go again :)

i've had an addiction to IV oxy and IV morphine many moons ago. now im dependent on my pain medication, buprenorphine. my dad and i have been talking about our dependency on our pain meds and both don't like having to be on them life long. although dad has been on a lot of other pain killers through the years, inclusing pethadine of which he hated. his dr never told hm about the addictive properties and dad got a might shock coming off them. these days he takes 400mg of tramadol a day whereas i have 20mg bupe patches.

id prefer my dependency to opiates in general to my benzo addiction, thats for sure. though if i dont have my bupe i can take a decent dose of valium which relaxes my muscles in my lumbar and spine to a point where it feels like im on a painkiller even though im benzoed out

it's all about the bad brown powder.

Amen to that :|
What started as knee pain and post-rave dance pain turned into addiction..
Codeine first, Dihydrocodeine later, back to Codeine, then back to DHC, now the bad brown powder and DHC or Codeine to fill the gaps.

addicted to oxy. right now I use about 2 80's a day on a normal day :)

I've tried the bad brown powder a bunch of times (sniffed and plugged) but it just doesn't match the high that oxy can give me. and i'm not touchin no needles.

Yes, shot up everything I could during the entirety of my teenage years, from heroin to the ultra-pharms, whatever. Eventually cleaned up, it's been a year now, but I still smoke weed everyday 8).

I still have near irresistible temptations, think almost Rockzo the Clown from Metalocalypse.

"C-C-C-C-Cocaine! I used to do COCAINE!" =D

I've taken codeine "recreationally" around 15 times but I dunno if that counts since it barely does anything. Tramadol about 5 times oxycodone about 5 times heroin once and kratom (the best of them all in my opinion) about 5 times.

Oh I've eaten raw poppy pods before too (not arsed with making tea - gets all the alkaloids too) that was as good as the kratom and lasted longer.

I'm not addicted, my use is very sporadic.

First tried opioids in high school after a surgery, when they gave me OC 40's for the pain. Enjoyed them a lot, but once they were gone I didn't seek them out again, just continued to smoke weed every day. 4 years later, I began using morphine and OC on occasion, which soon because OC every weekend, which became OC 3 times a week.

Soon after this I was introduced to heroin, and after my first use (insufflated) I used every day for 3 months. I went to visit a friend up north, and experienced my first taste of withdrawal, which only pushed me to use more so I would never have to feel like that. Started IV'ing, and continued for about 8 months before I quit for the first time.

Since then, I've been on suboxone twice, which I'm still on now, but I still shoot dope once in a while. Finally getting my life back on track, going to school, and doing well in it, but I will always love getting high, and since I dont have a steady connection for marijuana anymore, I'll continue to shoot dope once in a while to satisfy the urge.

Used just about everything, morphine, heroin, oxy, hydro, kratom, opium, etc. My favorite buzz behind cannabis. Never got addicted to opiates and I never will, just not worth ruining something so nice when you can use it responsibly instead. Cannabis on the other hand, hooked for life.
