Has marijuana helped moderate your consumption of other drugs?

the human mind is far too complicated for "pot is a gateway drug" to be relatively true. Even then the human mind is prolly mixed up with our culture and language. So much of our thought is controlled by our language and connotations that for a drug that causes complex subjective effects on the already infinitely complex human mind to lead to another is craazy, and most likely a self fulfilling prophecy in most cases.

Yes. I like using cannabis in combination with other drugs, but when cannabis has been less available, it has always increased my consumption of alcohol and other drugs.
I am lightly addicted to altered states of being (ie. not being sober) and my poison is cannabis, but if that's not available I'll try to get by with something else - usually it's beer, but sometimes it's other stuff.
On the contrary, here in the Netherlands there's obviously no shortage of weed, and I don't even know a single drug dealer here. I wouldn't mind doing some other drugs every now and then, but I have no need to; I'm pretty happy with weed, I know it's shit tons safer than most other alternatives, and it's not really worth the hassle.
I buy weed and hash from coffeeshops; truffles, salvia and kratom from smart shops; what other drugs I've had have been from the pharmacy.

Cannabis makes me more conscious of the adverse effects of other drugs, and I'd say it led to me quitting cigarettes, and it keeps me from using other drugs as much.

When all other drugs have let me down, my good ol' BUD is still there for me, making life just a little more tolerable.
However to answer your question ferinox, "pot" has done quite the contrary for me. My consumption of other drugs has very well moderated my previous heavy consumption of pot! :)

that. and the fact that weed, as a fairly powerful drug, does soothe the addict's need for an altered state of mind, makes it an effective tool for avoiding relapse to hard drug addiction. however, of course, ideally one would use nothing or only recreationally. also one major downside to weed is it cripples one's energy levels and feelings of motivation. weed nowadays is so strong its almost narcotic as well - i.e. addictive.

my final opinion would be, weed is the least evil of all drugs- which doesnt make it a good thing. but it seems there are no 100% good things in life i guess. personally, im sick and tired of weed and every other drug ive shoved into my lungs, veins, stomach and up my cursed ass -- but i feel ultimately attached to them through long yeasrs of increasingly hazardous habits -- in other words, i need to be ON SOMETHING to feel even halfway "normal" - and that's fucked up, even if its coffee and cigarettes or whatever, a tylenol 1, a bit of DXM, benzos, and other easily available, weak drugs. so im trying to slowly phase out all that nonsense and stick to the soft stuff in times of frantic craving.

Yes and no, let me explain.

Marijuana makes cigarettes and alcohol seem more risky and taste worse most of the time, but not always. I prefer to wait until the high is partially over before I use anything else.

However, as a long-term pothead (I), it's produced more than it's fair share of anxiety and paranoia, which gives me the urge to smoke cigarettes and take benzos with it (and that's what I do). The paranoia and anxiety also force me to reduce my use of stimulants.

I consider marijuana to be as harmful as many of the other drugs I use, so I don't see this as a good thing.

all i know is i refuse to drink wile im high cuz i dont wanna waste the high, it keeps me content, wen im sober ill want to trip or get throwed , but then we toke up and im like mann wut was i thinkin wanting to trip shiiittt, just me tho, bud keeps me off other drugs

that's the problem. weed is too hazardous - like most "street drugs" - to be used effectively. but i havent seen clinical style drugs to be a better alternative. i think if used in moderation, sparingly, for me like 2-3 tiny joints a day [think 2-3 small bowls] stop me not only craving hard drugs but alcohol and cigarettes as well. when im socialising i do smoke and drink a bit though, because everyone else is offering them since theyre legal and the crowd makes you have more adrenaline.

there are better alternatives to hard drugs than pot, but sometimes it can actually help. it zonks you out and makes you unaware of "needing things" and being all jacked-up like modern-day humans usually are. in canada, at least, massive, modern but hugely underpopulated wild wasteland, pot is a way of life for a huge portion of the general population of all colours and creeds. all told, its a fairly weak drug that just makes you look at things a little spacey and lazy and can occasionally wig you out if you're simply not at the right time in your life to be smoking weed [and stopping it is easier said than done like any habit]]

Not for me . When I smoke weed , it's only a matter of time before i start smokin dope

Yes and no.

When i smoke sometimes im satisfied with just smoking, and all is well.

Other times i end up spinning my self out on weed, and going on a bender and hitting a rave. Where i end up combining multiple types of research chemicals, and LSD.

Everyone needs to go on a bended every now and again i suppose.

Marijuana got me into drugs just as much as it got me out...

I would say it has more to do with addictive personalities than anything else.

Weed is the first thing that got me high and after you get bored with it, you want to do other drugs. I smoked weed every day for about 3 years and barely touched anything else. Now, I havent smoked in in like a year and don't care about it at all because I found WAY better highs from stronger/different drugs.

Used to be a huge pot head for years, but had to quit due to anxiety attacks/paranoia. I moved on to harder stuff until developing a pod tea habit.

I'm happy to have found recently that I can smoke weed without the anxiety! Now it's just mellow. Hoping it will help me taper down.

No matter what opinion you have on weed it makes you happy, hungry, and helps you sleep since I have been on probation I do think about other drugs and drinking its really bad I wish I could just only smoke weed and I would be the happiest person alive, give me a fat sack of grass and ill sit on my ass for days and just smoke it ... put other drugs in front of me I wouldnt even touch em.

It's almost worked in the complete opposite direction for me. LSD has opened my eyes to how much of a problem my 16 year daily pot smoking habit is, and has made me attempt to moderate this, but it is very difficult for me to do so..
