For me, I was on probation and couldn't smoke for 2 and a half years. During those years, I only got to try pot 3 times at the beggining (when I got on probation) experimented with psychedelics and occasionally prescription stims for school. The only "feel-good" drug I regularly used was alcohol, and cigarrettes if you count those. When I got off, I start regularly started smoking pot and this got me to quit cigarettes and alcohol. Is it good for me to smoke pot at least a few times a day/everyday? Maybe not but since getting off probation a few months ago, I've only tried 2c-e and mephedrone, once each in a non-recreational setting. I believe marijuana has caused me to view drugs less recreationally. I don't even smoke to get super high usually, I just use enough (and choose indicas0 to relieve anxiety and relax me. Since I'm relaxed all the time, I don't feel the need to get super fucked up, I also no longer have the time. Job, School, family, friends, etc. However, I can smoke a shit ton everyday for a while and always get up in the morning and go through the day like normal. If I drank that much, or used any other serious recreationally drug with possible hangover, addiction, etc. then I'd probably have a lot of serious health issues. This is probably kinda scrambled, I'm scrambled myself and pretty tired from work.
To add, pot can lead to other drugs depending on how you use pot itself. I use it to enjoy life as I've been through quite a lot. I don't use it to combo with alcohol, pills, etc. I prefer to smoke alone and I rarely go to parties. I'm not really around those drugs because of it. For me, it is not a gateway drug. In fact, I experimented with a lot of drugs because I couldn't smoke pot. It's kind of replaced all of that usage in my life. If I want a different high, I can just get a Sativa or Indica dom accordingly.
