Has anyone ever given up alcohol by switching to cocaine?

the day before Thanksgiving used to be my favorite day to drink and do coke (true story)

If you're gonna substitute addictions, substitute pot in there. If you have an addiction already, then you will be one of the folks that can get addicted to pot. However, your life won't fall apart. It's a sustainable addiction

Some guy in my AA meeting a few days ago had 9 years of sobriety. Said he went down to Mexico and thought he could do some coke for fun. Relapsed and was drunk for 18 months straight again and ruined his marriage.

Just some perspective.
yea I gotta say that sounds really sad when you think about all those years sober then going on a 18 month binge. the cycle of alcohol is horrible. You drink all day just to feel normal like a H addiction but people can smell it on you and if you have to drive then thats even more fucked

this is the way! edibles last a lot longer and you don't feel the need to smoke bowl after bowl

I think you never feel really normal or even decent as daily drinker, unlike with, say, benzos, you are not constantly off
when I was drinking, I would wake up hungover or still drunk and barely get through work and run to there first gas station I could find to get beer of the highest alcohol content and drink tilll I felt better. my hands got so shaky my boss wouldn't let ne work on certain projects cause I literally could barely hold things with my hands. I was bad but functioning. but you are right you maybe feel ok after the first or second but never really normal when your a daily drinker

Probably a bad idea, you will crave the alcohol at the comedown of the coke to take the edge off, even if its good coke with little comedown.

The solution is probably an opiate, but that could turn even worse, as we all know they are sneaky substances.

Look for a solution outside drugs.

Or have a psychedelic and contemplate your alcohol addiction.

Mdma without drink might work

MDMA is an even worse option than coke. It's notoriously damaging if used continuously as low as once every one to two weeks. Unless you use the mental lessons from the occasional MDMA trip to keep yourself clean of booze, that is a definite option. But using MDMA as a replacement social/recreational drug is a disaster in the making

Using any drug as a replacement for another in a recreational capacity is always a bad idea at best and a life ruining idea at worst. There is no judgement here by the way. I and many others here have been guilty of doing the same thing, but it's just something that has a high likelihood of becoming a disaster.

"To quell his constant excruciating pain, Fleischl-Marxow began his descent into a devastating morphine addiction. During this time, cocaine was viewed as a panacea for everything from headaches to indigestion to aches and pains to depression. So Freud started researching cocaine in hopes that it’d also become an amazing antidote to addiction.

In May 1884, Fleischl-Marxow agreed to try cocaine to help him cure his morphine addiction. According to Markel, it’s possible that Fleischl-Marxow was “the first addict in Europe to be treated with this new therapeutic.” And the results were disastrous."

Long story short, Freud's friend ended up addicted to both Morphine and Cocaine.

I wouldn't be taking it often. I mean it would just be on nights out or events. Lots of time between the doses

yea its super neuron toxic and who know what impurities your gonna be building up in your body by taking it so much even at a low dose

there is at least one study indicating it can damage axons relating to 5ht-receptors and there is vast amount of anecdotal data indicating neurotoxicity I wouldnt dismiss no matter what.

MDMA is not toxic. It's one of the safer drugs around

MDMA. About as dangerous as 5 pints of beer
