^^^ payment was a complete no no. not even travel expenses, not even drinks for the night, definitley not for the drugs or any form of wages for your time. i was told they wanted an honest account of events, and thus any payment may of made the series inaccurate, as then they may of had people doing it for the money, free night out etc, which could give a false documentation of events

Hehe pc.
Even with the best intentions, the media have a tendancy to make users look bad, because that's what people want to see, and so that's what brings viewers. I imagine tonight's show about cannabis users will feature a typical "stoner".

The religion part in Zeitgeist is questionable. I looked into Horus, the egyption God/prophet and the story is nothing like jesus contrary to what zeitgeist tells us.

Very good watch tho

It's not the story, but the symbolism; the concept of the Christian Trinity is often cited by theologians as influenced by the trinity of Isis, Horus and Osiris.

A blatant lift, like most things in Christianity. The cults of Mithras and Bacchus were also an influence - it's even speculated that Buddhism may have played its part. All possible influences on a religion which essentially was piggybacked onto an existing one (Judaism) to lend suposed legitimacy; a religion which itself was derived from the worship of Yahweh, who was a relatively minor figure in an entire pantheon of Canaanite gods. Not a particularly pleasant one either.

And still you get 'em screaming at you in the streets handing out poison pamphlets. Insane.

Best doc about WWI out there.

^^Restrepo was on one of the documentary channels a few weeks ago. I now have it to disc. What a fantastic accurate eye opener that one is. Class.

Theatre Girls 1978. Great Britain. Directed by Kim Longinotto, Claire Pollak.

Sometimes hilarious, sometimes sad...

"Gritty daily life of destitute women at the Theatre Girls Club in Soho, London—the only shelter in London that takes in homeless women at any time of day or night. Drinking binges, severe withdrawal, mental breakdowns, and skirmishes are everyday realities for the women who live there. The filmmakers lived in the hostel for several months, capturing the daily rounds of explosive meals, conversations, and encounters with the staff. 56 min."

Fear? All you've made me do is lament the fact that I necked my last oxy on Saturday...

But seriously, I may have to watch that at a more appropriate moment. Cheers.
