Good Documentaries

Just watched that one about the guy following Banksy about.

Fucking header lol... Had to laugh at some of the gullible tossers at the art show.

I really don't "get" most contemporary art though.

I watched that Power of Art episode about Rothko... You can stare at it all fuckin day as far as I'm concerned... its still just nursery school painting

I still think the Banksy one is a complete set up. The clowns at the art show got proper played though, but the funny thing is the "art" they bought will actually turn out to have been a bargain if it gets tagged as "a banksy" rather than being by Mr Copy.

I fucking hate how the value of a piece of art is all about whose name is signed on it rather than how good it actually is.

It was interesting but this guy seems to think that ket is the only thing holding his community back from being incredible instead of being a shit tip with a few caravans sitting on it. He's being incredibly naive. He talks as if remove ket & the sky's the limit but while ket exists woe is me, we can't do anything. It's not the drugs fault. Maybe have a look at why your whole wee community seems to be, from what he's saying anyway, in a ketamine stranglehold. Mine isn't, yet ketamine is readily available.

If I lived there I'd probably rather be k-holed 24/7 than staring out the window at my neighbours beat up caravan. People are using ket to escape their reality, just as people in other communties/lifestyles use ket & other drugs to escape their reality. In other communities/lifestyles it is the minority who feel the need to escape their reality 24/7, whereas (again purely based on what this guy is saying) in that particular community/lifestyle it is the majority who feel the need to escape their reality 24/7. Change the reality & people might not need to escape from it.

thats what happens when u use drugs to escape from reality. sort your life out first, use drugs afterwards for play and to enhance certain social occasions while still keeping your life in order and as long as you dont slip into the addiction/reckless zone, most people seem able to contain it to a reasonable level, although we all have the capability to slip up from time to time.

its upto others how they choose to live there lives, if i lived like that, my first prioroty if i had spare cash floating around would be to improve my life, not that im materalistic, and not waste it on drugs, but there you go, we are all different

^^Agreed guys. But it's that age old poverty trap isn't it? Whether it's living in a run down council flat on a piss poor estate, or some old caravan hovel clinging to some dried up hippie ideal, or living rough on the street like I did for a year. It's next to impossible to get out. Or at least a lot more difficult to escape your situation than it is to take the easy route through drugs. I was lucky. Really fucking lucky. A lot of my old crew are now dead, and have been for years.

This says it all, pretty much.

Fuckin' hell - you should smoke some more of that black hash, man!

I've not watched it yet, but here's something I found linked on Facebook. It's a 10 min documentary from a traveller talking about the damage K is doing to his family and community.

thanks that was a good watch :)

agreed he was perhaps looking at the past with slightly rose tinted glasses but I'm sure ketamine has had a very bad effect on those sort of communities, because its like the traditional traveller drugs acid, mushies, weed etc in that it can feel so profound and sometimes is beautiful but it also quite habit forming and is an antithetic and is toxic, so is clearly going to mess up a community more than just smoking joints and occasionally going a bit loopy on trips

obviously their are other drugs which can ruin groups and relationships, but he has clearly seen how much of a negative effect ketamine has had on his family if he went the trouble of making a film

Doesn't need to be said really I'm sure everyone is aware, but just a heads up for the ecstasy doc on BBC3 @ 9pm tonight. Should be a laugh at least :)

I bet it's awful. It's going to be well worse than the cannabis one.

well at least im not the star of the show anymore, lol. i cant wait to watch this, see what i i would of been subjected to. aprently its a pretty responsible and very educational doc. we shall see

its by an independant company. its been made to show on bbc and the educational geographical channels on sky. of course they would of bought the rights before it was even made, at the time i was chatting to the producers they knew what channels it was for, so one assumes theyd sold the rights and was funded by the channels while the doc was still just ideas on paper and not filmed, i would imagine that kind of scenario to be true.

and ref somone the other day who mentioned about new mdma and synth talk, the doc is about how the drug effects your mind and body, its not about the drugs trade. watch it and see and make your own minds up

^ Isn't psilocybin illegal in UK? How does he/she document a crime and broadcast it? I can't watch it yet 'cause bandwidth.

^ They had people smoking weed on the recent BBC documentary. People at home smoking their own & a guy in a lab setting being handed a a vapouriser by some doctor/scientist woman. I suspect the people smoking at home had to sign some release to say they were aware it was a crime etc & didn't give a fuck about it being shown on TV (because nothing would happen anyway). The scientist/doctor will have some sort of government research licence
