Thoroughly enjoyed watching we live in public, cheers mugabe :)

Probably been mentioned already but:

King of Kong
American Movie (hilarious bad acid trip story in this movie)

More of a request then a recommendation - I'm looking for a link to the National Geographic documentary called Rat Genius.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? The only one I've found is in Russian and it's a bit of a stuggle following :D

The Ground Truth

Just in the middle of watching an amazing documentary about the American troops in the Iraq war.

It is basically about the way that American troops were trained to de-humanise the 'rag heads' and how they are now feeling disillusionment with the way they were trained.

It's all about coming home after a tour and having to deal with PTSD.

Fuck me...an American documentary that pisses all over the 'American way'.

If you can....... catch it on ITV replay

Long shot but...

Anyone know of a documentary about a certain breed of birds that had to be taught how to migrate again. Saw it a few years ago. It was narrated by a guy with a northern English accent kinda like John Peel's? They had to use a guy on a powered hand glider to pretend it was their mother. The birds were white as far as I can remember and I'd love to get it again. Thanks for any help!

They were Canada geese if that helps any

As for good documentary, don't know if I've mentioned it before, but Cane Toads - An Unnatural History is interesting as a study on introduced species fucking up a whole ecosystem (Queensland) but is also much fun for containing loads of mad Aussies who either see cane toads as friends or hate them with a passion for the disaster they bring. Used to show this to my biology classes atthe end of the year. At first they were all moans, thinking it would be a boring documentary, but after the first class had seen it I was usually asked many times by kids in my other classes "are we going to see the toad video?". How much more of a recommendation do you want?! =D

Whats the name of it? Was it "the 13th platoon" or something along those lines? Can't remember the name exactly, but it sounds like the one I watched myself.

Been watching loads since gettting me 'puter back - still digging through Documentary Heaven and no sign of finding an end to the boundless Goodness therein so far. Some corkers on there, one of which (We Have Ways of Making You Talk - very interesting doc about the use of torture in recent history with many interviews with torturers and their surviving victims) I watched earlier which in turn led me to LinkTV. Looks like an interesting site with plenty new docs and other bobs. Bit worthy for some tastes maybe but thought it worth a mention - any excuse to bump this thread :D

Will have to check out some recent suggestions - that Mark E. Smith one mentioned above sounds tempting...

Cant wait for "Sean Thackrey - Pleasure Architect" to come out ....

"A documentary on iconic artisan winemaker Sean Thackrey. A former art dealer who began making wine in the mid-70s, Thackrey's spectacular hard-to find wines have an ardent cult following among wine enthusiasts. This film focuses on an extraordinary individual and a rare artisan, celebrating his creativity and unique craftmanship. Central themes are immersion in the creative process, the architecture of pleasure and the power of art."
