vice.com how to hitch hike across america 1/5

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO3-AAVTeDA

great doc, vice have all the good shit - check their channel

Just watched all 5 of them, great little documentary. Ive heard of alot of people hiking through america on the trains it looks like fun, that documentary was recorded in 2006, its wierd that the main guy dave made millions recently from the sale of facebook and is now a multi millionaire, dont know if he was rich when that was filmed though?

^^ I reckon he was already loaded.

You don't get free rooms in Las Vegas casinos if you're a poor guy.
And some of those real scenes were so staged it was painful to watch.

Actually it's pretty easy to get comped at casinos. As long as they know you will spend money on the floor they will send you all sorts of free things including hotel rooms.

I just watched this one last night. It's a drug documentary about heroin in Wales (should be names 'Whales' after seeing some of the characters on there) and is done by Vice.

Cant help but feel sorry for some of those people. Some of them are in a right state. The blonde girl, Amy, couldnt have had a much worse start in life, cant really blame her for needing to be constantly totally wasted. But what a fuckin mess she's in.

I've been wondering for a while why some people who use hard drugs often, and you wouldnt really know, as they look OK, like a couple of the guys on that show, the guy who said he'd been using since he was 18 and now 22, and had short brown hair, the one who said 'you could pass me in the street and i dont look like a stereotypical drug user, or a dodgy bastard'. He was right about that. But that guy who looked a bit like a young Jean Claude Van Damme on crack and smack, you could tell he was a hard drug user. Some of the others just looked a fuckin mess and wasted the whole time, but underneath all that, they wouldnt have looked too bad - if they sobered up, had a shower, put on some better clothes.

Then you get the stereotypical image of a heroin addict like this one http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=8gz&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1280&bih=656&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=x78ED5XIT9QYrM:&imgrefurl=http://cocoshanelle.wordpress.com/&docid=ec-aehyzATT_MM&imgurl=http://cocoshanelle.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/heroin-addict1.jpg&w=334&h=250&ei=9YYfUPPLOKHN0QWiwIHICg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=532&vpy=100&dur=6250&hovh=194&hovw=260&tx=108&ty=213&sig=104550829083266000748&page=1&tbnh=128&tbnw=170&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:0,i:144

Although I'm sure ive seen those pictures before in the 'before and after effects of Methamphetamine' that The Sun ran with a while ago.

Mainly I want to try to make sure I dont start looking like that. (So far I dont think I look too bad/too much of an obvious druggy. Apart from the times when Im obviously wasted that is. I know in the city I live there's plenty of people who arent shy of giving you their opinion of what you look like/how you're acting, and I've only been called a "crackhead" once, and a "wreckhead" once. I've never taken Crack, but yeah I am a 'wreckhead' lol)

I made it about 18 minutes into this. Despite briefly covering acid house and a mention of ibiza, there wasn;'t a word about MDMA. Does the whole doc skip out drug use?
Yups no drugs, it's more a music history based one.
I doubt you need another carlton leach etc...based one.

Vice do have lots of good documentaries. Some of their hipster wanker employees are a fucking mile out though.

Couldn't agree more, vice have some fucking terrible 'journalists' working for them. Usually because they couldn't get a decent journalism job anywhere else and vice seems to hire anyone and everyone. Admittedly, some of the stuff they do such as going into North Korea is very interesting but I feel it's overshadowed by their other material.

It's their original material that's good with the original journalists, korea/liberia etc...That posh French/English bird that just appeared is just a plain idiot who only didn't get her arse raped because she had a camera crew with her, that dude who got high with that frog slime is another boring tool who looked like he'd just gotten out of rehab or escaped from the Philosophy & Spirituality forum =D

Yeah the only guy I tolerate is the one who did the Liberia and North Korea ones, some of the others are so annoying.

Luis Theroux made a great one about meth in the US, really liked it, although he's a total twat and I always hope he gets beaten on camera.
