"Countdown to Zero"

Countdown to Zero traces the history of the atomic bomb from its origins to the present state of global affairs: nine nations possessing nuclear weapons capabilities with others racing to join them, with the world held in a delicate balance that could be shattered by an act of terrorism, failed diplomacy, or a simple accident. Written and directed by Academy Award ® nominated documentarian Lucy Walker (Waste Land, The Devil s Playground, Blindsight), the film makes a compelling case for worldwide nuclear disarmament and features an array of important international statesmen, including Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pervez Musharraf and Tony Blair.

So yeah, this is a good documentary about John Cooper Clarke.

Suffered from the usual rent-a-view celeb slots but that comes with the territory nowadays and compared to many docs most were well chosen.

I finally got round to round to watching that John Cooper Clarke documentary last night. I'd heard him on the radio a couple of times over the years. First time I thought WTF. Second time, many years later I heard him again, and having more idea what to expect and having been around longer could appreciate it more. After watching that show now I am now a big fan.

For anyone whose not familliar with him - here's a short clip of "Things can only get worse, nurse" from You Tube. How well does this fit for me and the mess I've got myself in.

and Evidendently Chicken Town

"fuckin pubs are fuckin dull, fuckin clubs are fuckin full, the fuckin girls are fuckin guys, with fuckin murder in their eyes.....you fuckin stay at fuckin home, the fuckin neighbours fuckin moan, keep the fuckin racket down, this is fuckin Chicken Town". Geniuis !

JCC was performing at The Ruby Lounge in Manchester a little while back, a tiny intimate venue, but i wasnt familliar enough with his work at that time to go. Wish I'd gone now though, now that I am.

Talking about the rent a view celebs Paul Morley is a bit of a twat isnt he. He goes way OTT. Talking about how Johnny Rotten got the dadaism of punk. WTF. Ok he thinks JCC's work might still be around in a hundred years time, but the way he said 'he'll be around longer than any of us' implies that Morley seems to think he himself also belongs in the godlike genius category. Or did i just misunderstand him.

can anyone recommended some more drug docs, ive seen cocaine cowboys and a how weed won the west, kinda stuff, but after watching dirty pictures looking for more stuff like that

Have you seen 'The dark end of the street'?
Its filmed in San Francisco and is about different people all addicted to heroin.
I thought it was very good and extremely sad because of what happens to some of the addicts in it.
Well worth a look if you haven't already seen it.

What a legend. Top doc to boot.

Watched this the other day, cracking documentary. The rivalry between Senna & Prost was fascinating and so exciting for the fans at the time.
I thought his funeral scenes were unreal, it really illustrated the effect that this one man had on his country.
