God will call drug dealers to account, says Pope

yeh to be honest, drugs have saved me from doing many bad things, and that makes my dealers my saviours. sorry mr pope, the last thing your religion made me do was judge and condemn someone for something, which i actually have no right to do according to your religion... oh, and neither do you... wonder what god will say?

LOL @ Catholics.

They don't believe in evolution, therefor anything they say, do or think is pure bullshit that means nothing.

As a biochemistry major I can't respect any opinion of someone that supports creationism.

you can't respect a persons opinion because they beleive in something different to you?

anything any catholic across any topic range says is pure bullshit because they mightent believe in evolution?

you sound as closed minded as the pope

If God will "Call drug dealers to account" , Imagine what he will do to the Hypocritical Pedophile Priests ! :p

God shall calleth thy drug dealers
and thy drug dealers will ignore the call. And they shall call back 2 hours later to say "who gave you this number??"

So every Govt that ever collected a cent in tax from alcohol and tobacco is going to hell as well. Makes me feel better.

what did drugs "save you" from doing and how do you know what would have happened if you didnt take drugs? do you have a crystal ball?

On one hand, I agree with the pope that it takes a real lapse in morality and lack of concern for the well-being of others to be a hard drug dealer.

On the other hand, the Catholic Church, unlike Protestantism and Islam, has never openly condemned any drug use in official doctrine, which puts the pope in a really awkward position to get all sanctimonious about something like this.

At least it's dealing, not use, that's getting condemned. Glad to know his holiness wouldn't give a shit if made my own drugs for my own personal use.

why does the church not condemning drug use put the pope in an awkward position considering he is talking about drug dealers and not users? i think that making a living through an illegal trade, especially a trade which often results in harm coming to people, is pretty morally questionable behavior and for the pope to not denounce drug dealing just wouldn't make sense.

drug –noun

2.
c. any article, other than food, intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of humans or other animals.

According to Trogdor's Book of Loose Interpretations (currently out of print), petroleum absolutely qualifies as a drug.

Shall those who deal in oil also be called to account by God?

dont be stupid, the pope was obviously referring to those who deal in illegal drugs.

Since drugs aren't illegal in Vatican City, the only drugs the Pope could possibly be referring to are the legal ones, by default. I believe this includes oil.

And if he's referring to everybody else's drug policies, well then that makes him a hypocrit doesn't it. Then again, I believe that the fabric that ridiculous hat is made out of is interwoven with hypocrisy.

Touche.

I guess what I was thinking in the back of my mind was that the pope's denouncement would be a hell of a lot more forceful and compelling if he could be like, 'Shame on you! Any good catholic knows from scripture and church doctrine that having anything to do with intoxicants is forbidden, there's Satan in every snort, yadda yadda. Need I say more?'
