Glade- The Aftermath

So, the last bits of mud has been washed away, I've had two good nights sleep in a proper bed, and do you know what, I'm missing Glade already!

It got off to a reasonable start - we landed on site at around 2pm on the Thursday, and after setting up our stuff, we sat down to enjoy our first beer / cider of the festival.
As others arrived, we started to explore the new layout of the site - with new stages & swapped locations compared to last year, we wanted to get our bearings.

Plus we needed to check out the food on offer.

The boys were quick to sniff out a great meal - and here they are enjoying a Sausage Fest!

As evening came, we started to notice a few flashes of lightening, and at 10pm it started to rain. We sat out for a bit, watching the Lichfield crew putting up their tent in record time! But as it got heavier we decided to call it a night and get some kip for the weekend ahead.
Little did we know that it would be raining for 16 hours solid!

When I woke the next day, I didn't want to get out of the tent. In fact, I stayed in there for a few hours in a mini strop! But then I figured I couldn't stay in all fest, so I decided to brave it, slipped my wellies & mac on, and faced the rain!
We tried sheltering under the gazebo for a little bit, but then thought, fuck it - we could either huddle up in the cam site being wet & miserable, or head out to the stages and try to enjoy the festi.
Here's us looking vaguely sensibly dressed!

A few of the stages we understandably having problems in starting up for mid-day.
Overkill was under 2 feet of water, other tents were getting close to that, and acts weren't able to get on site, especially for the live stage.

So we took refuge in Sancho Panzy, and gayed it up to some dodgy house for an hour. Alex was stupidly smug about this, hehehe!
But fairly soon, the other stages started opening up, as did the cloud, and by 2pm, the rain was subsiding, and blue sky was in site - lifting spirits with a great cheer!

That's it, lets get stuck in!

From then on, we knew it was going to be muddy for the rest of the weekend, but that didn't stop us having fun.
Glade did remarkably well in getting things back on track.
The line up was a little shot on Friday, with a few acts missing, and others delayed / swapped, but things were getting better.
Especially by later on when rumours were going around that the Bangface night, which had been cancelled, was back on!

By Saturday, almost everything was back on track, with some acts from Friday filling in any gaps.
We even saw the naked man - sporting a rather dashing Broze look this year!

The live stage was top notch - great sets from Hybrid, Uberzone, UNKLE, Dreadzone Soundsystem, and Digitalism (vid snippet here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmvaaQFeh2I )

I didn't see much psy trance at all - those stages were a bit of a mission to get to.

Although I didn't hear the bullet proof remix of Blue Monday which was good enough for me.

We of course spent a reasonable amount of time in the Breaksday tent, with great sets from the Plump DJ's, Ali B, Renne Pilgrim, Krafty Kuts (even if it did turn into a cheese-fest) etc.

Ducked into the Overkill a few times, although we missed most of the people we wanted to see on the friday due to the line up changes.
But we did see KJ Sawka - an AMAZING jungle drummer - I can't put into words how impressive he was, so just type that into YouTube instead!
We even had a fist shake to Dolphin & Teknoist - with an interesting breakcore remix of "Stayin Alive"

So, all in all, I had a fun time. Yes, the mud was annoying, some of the toilets were tres ming as they couldn't be emptied - although there were still plenty being cleaned regularly. And it was a little frustrating that we missed a few acts, but what can you do? Like I said, they did remarkably well to pull off a good festival all things considered.

There was definately an increased police presence though:

Although I notice that they didn't bother trying to come in on the friday, hehehe!

We decided to head back around Mid-Day on the Sunday. The car park was already starting to get cut up, with some people needing tows, but my country driving experience helped us drive out with little bother, heh. I hear it got worse later though, so we timed it about right!

Anyway, heres some more pics for you to get your eyes around!

his set was sabotaged did you not read that thread linked to? the sound engineer was only feeding highs through to his monitors, he's said personally the last thing he wanted was to piss the crowd off.

the sound on the overkill made everything unlistenable (to me anyway)

nah the link didnt work, i think they shut it down. i agree though i could only get into the music right near the stacks

fucking hell, it's weird how you build up a mental picture of someone from their posts and then realise you're completely wrong.

Rainbowdrops, i'd totally interfere with you and i promise to interpret your posts in a sexual way from now on. :)

How did everone get out of the carpark ? we left on monday morning at 11AM and it was a complete mess. People stuck and queing for a tractor and paying £40 for the service!

my crew and another car full of lads decided "fuck that" and teamed up to get out of the mess. We created a rolling road of 4 discarded security fences over the worst of the mud, all pusing the two cars togeather! immense teamwork.

also had the bonus of finding 8 cans of kronemburg under the car , and a cool pair of sunnies on the bonnet when we got there! great stuff - just about to crack one open now!

- that mate of tranced who kept tellimg me to get on facebook and always had a smile on his face

Hello Mr. Italy!

[email protected]

Full on hello. What did you do with Fanny?

twas definetly the messyest long weekend of my life. Seeing as i've never been to glade before i can still say its the best festival/music event i've attended. It was great that everyone seemlessly intergrated straight away; i spent most of my time in the music tents with people i'd just met and the names still escape me but it doesn't really matter it was magical

I wasn't feeling the bangface as it just seemed too packed and coming up on mdma was being hampered by people barging past us, i fugure'd i'd stick it out but then as i was wearing only sandals i felt something stab me in the foot which freaked me the fuck out so i left to head back to the campsite. I really enjoyed what the VJs were doing, in fact every tent had some fantastic visuals.
The techno tent was definetly my favourite, i liked the decor and that there was plenty of space to dance.

The mud was a disappointment as it made me not want to explore the site as much, also it made dancing pretty difficult. I decided against any acid/2cb as i was having major trouble walking as it was, and had very little dry clothes availible.

Looking at the pictures it makes me regret getting up so late and missing out on some party time every day but i treated the weekend as a holiday and holidays involve sleeping in for me :D

Had some fantastic times with Ket, which i'm pretty inexprienced with, the funniest being thinking the apple i was eating was my phone, and trying to close it and put it away in my pocket heh. But on sunday i had a bump to give me some energy go dance in the sun and the outdoor stage, figured it wasn't enough, so had another and then for what seemed like hours i couldn't move or open my eyes as it was too bright, and had some of the trippiest thoughts of my life. Managed to crawl to my tent to pass out but this meant i missed saying goodbye to everyone, as when i awoke camp bluelight was packing up. I had no way to get to Leeds that night so got blue'd the fuck out til 8am and left, met a very friendly 50ish year old neuroscience lecturer on the bus to thatcham, i love the variety of people involve in psy trance. I
Was told it was impossible to get to Leeds from reading so i had a mega adventure around bastard london and eventually got to Leeds for 6pm after GNER were cockteases and kept cancelling and then reinstating trains.

Definetly one to remember though its all just a blur between arriving and leaving, hope to see alot of you at the next social event whatever it may be =D

ntype, that was about the time I was leaving, did you see the motorobike going across the field?
I got applause, and to be honest, I think I deserved it for getting my bike across that field, fully loaded and upright.

Carsick, did you not take any other form of transport because you literally get car sick?

And how about that fucking 5htp? ;)

It's to do with my last name.
I did several 5htp runs, sorry if you didn't get any.
I didn't want to carry the tub around all the time cos I knew I'd lose it or drop it in the mud otherwise.

You were just far too ketted up to get round to me, you said you would loads (i get scared of comedowns ;))

Don't worry about it mate, honestly I ended up being fine. I only had a dab of MDMA with 2cb GBL and Alcohol being my main drugs of choice. I've been great today at work! Happy as larry.

I'm so glad I met you all. Proper good laugh.

How unimpressed was Michelle with the whole affair?

michelle had a great time when i sent some acid/mdma her way. [edit this sentence if i am breaking rules here ha]

respect to her and simone [ok i think her real name was lou] for putting up with my drunken shit talking the first night :)

For Michelle I meant music wise. She said she really quite enjoyed the Acid but it made her only want to be in one place lol..

is Simone aka Lou on here? She was a mint bird.. and brave for coming with Glandular Fever!

Acid post a picture up of yourself in this thread man.. i know i know you!
