Thanks and appreciated. I think we're of similarish build. Trouble is I'm a bit older and, trust me, you get peckish if you're a skinny, the older you get. That's why I could do without the pounds. And I KNOW it won't work for what they are prescribing, so it's recreational opportunities only that I'd take it for. But I am about to be offered it.

Fucking hell, Mary Whitehouse. I used to do acid and walk past her house regularly when I was a student. Never saw her thank fuck.
 
i wouldn't say pregabalin is the most effective anti anxiety drug, pales into insignificance compared to benzos but it does help. It does seem to help with neuropathic pain a bit even though it's not prescribed for this anymore. Does make me feel generally good physically and improves my mood a lot. Comes in an identical box with pfizer livery as xanax does, maybe its like diet xanax, no added sugar an 0% fat. Nothing like a benzo though.

I found it is better taken 3 times a day than twice a day as usually it seems to wear off after about 5 hours or so, in my experience.
 
It is prescribed for neuropathic pain. That's what my doc is about to offer me it for. Nothing else (Amitryptyline, Gabapentin, Duloxetine) has worked.
 
according to the bnf it isn't indicated for that use in my part of the country anymore. I would say it does work for that though, i have problems with trigeminal neuralgia sometimes and it will let me get a decent nights sleep when shit like paracetamol wouldn't touch it. although the two together is quite a nice combo.

pregabalin is a lot better than gabapentin according to everyone i know who's tried both.

In totally unrelated news, am sure my ISP has limited my access since I've paid off me bill earlier cos BL - and intrawebz in general - are soooooo fukkin slow it's just plain silly. Takes several minutes to load each and every page this eve which is pissing me right off :!
 
Drug interaction Brimz? Do tell. I still use the ami's, got about 300 of the bastards, 25mg gives me a good nights sleep. Use sparingly. Ish. Don't doubt it's a shit drug but it makes me sleep. How did it nearly kill you?
 
i was a on a tricyclic for ages and it made me feel utterly shitty physically and barely did anything to my mood. amitriptyline doesn't sound like fun. They can totally kill you if you take too many. part of the reason SSRI's are now so popular for depression, because patients won;t die if they try and overdose deliberately. less to do with their actual efficacy.

I've totally lost faith in anything a GP prescribes me, fuck all the pills. I'm practically my own doctor, because I have to be to survive when faced with incompetent jobsworth medical practitioners.
 
GPs are generally shite man, came to that conclusion long ago. With a tiny minority of notable exceptions.

I'm of the opinion that there is no SSRI (or any anti-depressant) that works better than placebo so don't get me started...

Cheers for the advice all, done ket myself but asked as I want the friends to have a nice first experience as opposed to a combo-induced mess. They'll be persistent but I'll hold it out for a good 3 or more hours to make sure the alcohol is on its way out :D

Amitryptyline is utter wank. Imo, ime, etc, ymmv, etc. Definitely got me to sleep but also gave me the worst headaches I've ever experienced in my life. And the w/d from hell. Fark that. But whatever gets ya through the night, SHM <3

Haha you are joking. UCHL specialise in, well, getting people the hell out of there as quickly as possible. With as few drugs as possible. So no, no morphine. Diclofenac. :|

But I will not say or hear a word said against UCH. Best. Hospital. Ever. Should be a model for all others, the way they speak to you. They have been my saviours.
