The TV show & the book are practically identical. They haven't done some clever thing with the perspective or whatever. The book is just written that way. Sort of Hunter Thompson style of first person, part of the story, reporting (without the drugged up craziness). Just get it, it's well worth reading.

I saw the TV show first, I wouldn't have heard of the book otherwise tbh.

After Treme I think I'll go backwards in time and get The Corner and Homicide. I'm addicted to his stuff. The dialogue, attention to detail and depth of characters is amazing.

The Corner is well worth a watch. But does feel a lil bit like Wirelite at times. He's clearly on the same path but not quite gotten there yet. Not seen any of Homicide.
