I used to be a croupier for about a year, had it's ups and downs, would say downs for the most part though. The training I got was great though, 6 weeks of learning card games, roulette, chip skills and such all the while getting paid for it was rather nice. Things change however once you've been there for a couple of years and can do the cruise ships/work abroad, you can actually start earning alright money then. Most UK casinos pay base level croups at around a pound above min wage even for night shifts so that's also something to consider.

Be prepared to only get talked to when you're doing something wrong, coffee is your friend on the job and alcohol will be your best friend when you get home. Seriously hard to unwind after a 12 hour shift doing that job.
Can get a bit depressing at times watching the same people spend 10 hours a day in there with their last £5 just watching people play the games, their only conversations being small talk to a man who's job it is to take their money with a smile. Similarly watching people squander £200k in a year is just as bad, the serious people are a mixture between dealers, prositution ring runners and other nefarious types cleaning their money.

And RE: card counting, there's still a fair whack of chance even if you do it well as the shoe always leaves around 1 deck out of the seven before the reshuffle so it's not really seen much. Seen some crazy scam on Punto Banco that took my old casino for about £100k though!

I don't get paid anything myself as it is through a company called eos, I have been on JSA (dole) for too long & they send you to ither A4E or eos to get you into work or on a course. The offers today for courses were in retail, health & safety or some NVQ in health & social care which none grabbed me tbh.
The 1 guy who looks after our group then said there were 7 places to train to be a Croupier also going & told us what the course was all about.

I get free travel there & back for 6 weeks, free suit (sadly no Armani) & the course which would cost a normal person around £800 / £900 I get for free.

I had that feeling tbh, the places I would be looking to work in would be in Birmingham so I had the feeling the place would be full of pimps from Russia, YArdie crack dealers & rich people from the U.A.E.

How did you deal with the small talk to a man you watch every day blow his cash? I would feel very sorry for him tbh but I see that job of being a Croupier as being a bit like a legal drug dealer, they are paying for the "rush" from the risk. Personally I am not into it I prefer to spend my cash on real drugs, adrenaline should be free imo.

You still doing the job & any more info would be great & I would be very glad for anything you can add to this subject, 1st hand experience is the best.
I guess if you can add anything more PM me as someone will moan about it to the mods for some strange reason, people love to bitch about my posts all the time sadly :(

whew, just negotiated a usb cable there feeding into a a sound-card, over or under. went for over. pushing the boat boat out. i'll be crawlibg under it when i get stoned again.

dmt in a mad changa mix? any reason why i cant take it on top of mxe? obviously be low dosed, scrounging out the remnants of my old stashes. dunno if i'll do it it but just checking if its an option.
 
stoned + mxe blows me away, dmt + mxe would be too much, but it's not a dangerous combo.

Ah well. Faced the arctic tundra and put me script in so at least have some codeine to warm me tomorrow. In the meantime, pilfered a half-bottle of Scotch (not done that in years but needs must :\) and ketaman just called to say he's coming down with a bit o' ket for me (cos he knows I get me script tomorrow no doubt :D). Hopefully be feeling a bit warmer soonest :)

Terence McKenna is 1 of my all time heros.
So sad how he died, for years it put me off using DMT tbh but given the chance I would deffo try it once or maybe twice.
