I have read the book "The man with the golden arm" by Nelson Algren & also sadly seen the terrible film version with Frank Sinatra in which gave me the idea too do it but no FBI going to run my ass to jail.

I got a semi freind that has the disorder like in the film Rain man, I am thinking along the lines of that other book called "Bringing down the house"
My worked said it is 6 weeks 9am - 6pm 5 days a week but the course costs several thousand pounds to do but because I am on JSA the Torys pick up the bill :)

I will be allowed to work in any cardhouse in the world apart from Vegas for some reason, I am sssooo pleased atm :)

Being a croupier sounds fun though. Also hard work.

I used to play small Poker for bits of gear / baccy / bongs etc or a few quid. I never used to bet big because I never had the money tbh & I don't like to loose :(

I got my missus into Texas hold 'em on the PC & FB after she saw me playing on tyhere for hours on end, my worst loss in FB Poker was $35,000 I was so sure the guy was only betting big because he was bluffing, turned out he was not & my 1 pair of 2 hearts got it's ass kicked off the table.

I am really pleased as their is only 7 places for this course & I got one of them.
Got to learn now how to do card counting, the gambling man aint going to win or the House, it's time Farma won I think ;)

I said I am allowed to work anywhere BUT Vegas.
The guy I know with Aspergers syndrome can remember all sorts of crazy stuff about cars, I just got to train him now to remember cards & I am rich.

We can all dream "West Bromwich" Albion, tbh I see myself more in line with the guy from "The man with the Golden arm" but my life will not end up like his did in the film :)

Actually gold is relatively inert. It's more likely he fell over, couldn't get up from the weight and starved to death.

Counting cards is a piece of piss if you've got the mathematical brain for it. Getting hit in your hands with hammers isn't really something you can practice though. Those MIT boys who ended up writing a book made & spent a fucking fortune. Must have been some right good times. Gambling is just one vice that doesn't really grab me that much.

Well saying that BMEzine is more to do with hitting your balls with a hammer but I have seen fingers & toes taken off with a hammer on there before, spankwire challenge is something else imo.

The only reason cards etc don't grab you PTCH is your from Scotland, I very much question if a Casino would accept bets been taken in 1/2 empty cans of Special Brew or 3ltr White Star bottles.

How you know about card counting PTCH?.......
Each time I see your posts you intrigue me more, there is far more to you than throwing cheese burgers at people imo.

Are you paying for the course or being paid for it? From what I've heard and seen from people who have been on those courses they've required more training when they actually get to the casino. I used to be a croupier for about a year, had it's ups and downs, would say downs for the most part though. The training I got was great though, 6 weeks of learning card games, roulette, chip skills and such all the while getting paid for it was rather nice. Things change however once you've been there for a couple of years and can do the cruise ships/work abroad, you can actually start earning alright money then. Most UK casinos pay base level croups at around a pound above min wage even for night shifts so that's also something to consider.

Be prepared to only get talked to when you're doing something wrong, coffee is your friend on the job and alcohol will be your best friend when you get home. Seriously hard to unwind after a 12 hour shift doing that job.
Can get a bit depressing at times watching the same people spend 10 hours a day in there with their last £5 just watching people play the games, their only conversations being small talk to a man who's job it is to take their money with a smile. Similarly watching people squander £200k in a year is just as bad, the serious people are a mixture between dealers, prositution ring runners and other nefarious types cleaning their money.

And RE: card counting, there's still a fair whack of chance even if you do it well as the shoe always leaves around 1 deck out of the seven before the reshuffle so it's not really seen much. Seen some crazy scam on Punto Banco that took my old casino for about £100k though!
