Meh, engineer is coming out on Monday morning. Three days and no interntz
She offered a £7 refund before I even mentioned anything, which isn't bad considering I'm only paying £36 a month for phoneline and 120mb broadband.
My sis gave me an extra contract phone sim she had spare the other day, and it's got 500mb of data per month so I should hopefully be able to use that to browse on by tethering it to my laptop via my old phone
Can't do any downloading though *sob* ... new episodes of Legit, Suits and Vampire Diaries out this morning too
Currently scheming ways to keep using Nerdboy's phone/tether until he gets so pissed off he'll just sort my phone and sim so I don't have to. He'll only end up sorting it out when I fuck it up anyway so ...

No, they just didn't have the place ready. Venues which were promised had not been set up. So it was an elephants in a mini situation.
There was one guy got taken away in an ambulance but that was incidental.
EDIT I feel fucking AMAZING today. I can't say it's not because of drugs, because it is, but fuck it it's not often I feel like superman so I'm going to enjoy it :D Flat is getting cleaned and then I'm going to do something creative with a computer.

I took some AH7921 last night so I started off with a loverly opioid afterglow (©ColtDan). Topped that up with 5g kratom then sniffed just a tiny bit of this fresh batch of 3-MeO-PCP.
Buying those headphones (consumerism thread) gave me a bit of an adrenaline rush

I partly mended an apple hifi last night (fucking wicked thing, Apple were fools for stopping making them, was given it a few years ago, the dock's been broken for years but it's workable now and a more durable fix will be coming soon). Also last weekend I took a big step and fixed my drumtraks (lovely old drum machine). One very frequently used button was buggered through, er, frequent use, and I desoldered a button which is never used (tape load...) and swapped them over and it works like a charm. It's odd, my soldering was shit a few years ago and I stopped, but as soon as I picked up the iron this time round I'd somehow become really good at it, by not doing it for ages. 8(
I'm mainly good cheers. I too am rushing with adrenaline because I've drunk a lot of coffee and after over a year of frigging about and back and forth with someone who owes me money have finally outlined my proposal for a solution which will fix it, bring me some dough and strip away their bullshit and my own paranoia and overthinking surrounding it. It's a good feeling. Obviously I have to await their response but right now I have that lovely clear feeling that can only come of knowing you've acted right by yourself and lanced a long-festering boil.

Good work! I've got my brother's MP3 player to fix (I hate the name "MP3 player", there are no MP3s on it, only Ogg Vorbis, but if I typed DAP (digital audio player) that would probably have been inscrutable. Instead I've just ruined my post with a huge, unnecessary, parenthesised, explanatory section). The power switch is a tiny surface mount microswitch and it's a bastard to get to with a soldering iron. I've not worked out how I'm going to do it yet, I was thinking about heating a pin with a blowtorch and using that as the soldering iron. Any tips? (the finer the better, yuk yuk).
I envy you. One of my best mates borrowed about 3k off me over a few years. I was flush at the time and told him he could pay me back when he was rich. He's no rich yet, and by the time he is it'll probably be the price of a loaf of bread.

Might work, but it's going to be one heck of a thing to keep hot, I reckon the high surface area and small size of the pin will make it cool down really fast. Maybe if you got a long pin or similarly strong piece of wire you could fashion an extension to your soldering iron tip? Perhaps making a ring out of one end of it (hence the need for length) so that it will kind of clip onto the tip of the iron and stay hot? You might be able to do it with a safety pin, come to think of it. Probably not worth trying if you have even vestigial stim hand shake.
