because I want a place where I am not monitored and can do what I want - to certain limitations. I want a place of my own.

Anyway, dad has cancelled plans to buy me a flat for now, maybe in the future. So looking to rent in a couple months after living here for a while will be my choice I reckon.
 
ok just nknow that the benefits have gone to shit so if your a single man renting a 1 bed flat you will get hb to the equivaqlent as if you were in a houseshare.
 
yeah I know -sucks, would have been alright a few months ago, till it changed. Not on benefits yet thought so should be able to save some if I stop spending money on extravagances like £130 headphones, £70 camera, £200 casino loss £200 ticket to france £?? drugs £?? booze
 
Another good article by the Daily Mail, good for a laugh some of the quotes are so misleading/hilarious....Apparantley according to the DM Shulgins PiHKAL book is the "recipe" in all this, along with PMA to be always shaped like those kids sweets lovehearts, etc. :)

Bang on, is that just from the last few weeks? Reckon you're already well over 1k if you factor in drugs n booze, round here it'd be like 330 inclusive, bit less for just rent a month for a okay flat in an okay area, landlords never bother visiting unless you're really lucky or get a load of complaints, try save up a bit rather than burning through ya money, or give say 70 a week to ya dad to hold and use that for a deposit on a room in a house/a flat deposit, no idea how you're getting ahold of that much money unless your working/'working', but youl miss it when the incomes gone!

The most offensive part of that article is the middle class teenagers paying £20 for an ecstacy pill.

That's the worst thing ive seen in the dailymail in a long fucking time, disgusting, particularly in that they villify dr shulgin.

Damn that's cheap. I'm in Greater London/Surrey and a ROOM in a houseshare is 4-500 minimum including bills. Been looking into it myself lately, would love to rent a flat but its 800+ for even something very basic

That article is a shocker even by the Heil's usual low standards. Comments seem to have swung back mostly the right way so far though. "Prohibition is the problem" stuff all being voted up, "hanging's too good for druggies" stuff not out in force yet. This one creased me up though...

No problem the UK government intend to legalise all drugs, murder, people trafficking, and prostitution. This will allow the police to concentrate on real crimes like parking and rubbish bin positions.

I am still employed but not working at the moment. I will miss the money when it's gone, after my trip to France in the morning and my trip to Brimz on Monday then I'll be taking it very easy on the spending front and saving for when I am no longer "employed"

My dad wants to start charging me rent too which sucks since I didn't have to in the first three months and he's managed fine, I woulda thought he would be more up for me saving up to be able to get out on my own rather than charging me rent to live at his but it's his own choice. I'm putting off the conversation all the time though, lol.

I should be able to rent a one bed flat here in Portsmouth for around £500 a month which is what I was paying for a shared house in Cambridge, so if I can save at least 2 months rent and one months deposit in the next 3-4 months then I can see myself being able to move out comfortably.
 
Ah yeah course if your on sick like, hm maybe 350 was a little light tbh my personal experience is cheap drug hovels for the most part, with one or 2 nice houses or flats thrown in every so often =D, you considered giving a token ~30 quid a week to ya dad just to help with the bills? Since your staying at his using his electric heating etc, itd probably mean alot if ya paid him a bit willingly so he doesnt have to chase you down for it cause he needs it anyways, shows respect. Deffo meant alot to my parents when they took me back in! But aye if you can get your own space and a nice flat for 500 a month go for it! What happens when/if you lose the job though? Can you automaticlly switch to housing benefit or is it gonna causse problems?
 
should be able to automatically switch, and the backup cash should cover a month if it takes a month to switch.

I should transfer my dad a bit of money, will do when I get back from france, give him like £100 or something.
 
Haven't quite followed this properly but... is the gist of it that you're going for new accomodation and will be paying rent initially but might end up being on benfits some time shortly afterwards, Mugz?

You are aware of the new rules about HB, I presume? Caps on rent and number of rooms and all that. Is a shitty time to be in accomodation at Her Maj's expense :\
 
Best do that, Mugz. Changes in HB are very recent and you don't wanna end up moving in somewhere only to find out you're gonna have to pay a premium out yer giro on rent. Cos finding an extra £30/week out a giro cos you're in "the wrong type of accomodation" is so very simple 8)
 
Never made it to Paris when I went to France with the school years ago. Can't remember where we went at all actually. Main thing I remember is that the food at the place we stayed was great except the packed lunches which were dire. And that one of the girls ended up impaled on a rusty roundabout on the last day.
