My job is v nice, I don't moan much cos its easy, relaxing, enjoyable, keeps me fit, is a nice sociable job too, see some beautiful places too....
I get paid till 3, even in December I can finish by half 12 a couple of days a week, sometimes this month I'll be out till 3 though
My tips this year (200-300quid forecast) are not bad, as its an affluentish route, lots of farms, posh houses, posh gentry, hippies living on massive inheritances, but there's plenty of posties in this and other offices make going on for, or over a grand a year, these people have been on the same round for years...I like the food (pheasants, rabbits, eggs) and drink (cider, wines, organic juices) that people give me as well....
As brimz says, the job would be pretty fucking different in a city. And, as brimz says, everything is done on seniority....I've been there 10 years now, and stil don't get the pick of the best duties, but I'm getting there.
And discipline wise its pretty tough, alot of people fall foul of it by cutting corners, taking too many sickies, being late too often, is very easy to get sacked, we get a lot of ex-forces, ex-services who thrive on it, but sadly a lot of younger people, who naturally want to maintain a hectic social life, fall foul of it and don't last long.
Physically it's probably harder than a lot of you think, and there's a lot of pressure to get your round sorted fast, whch seems impossible when you first start and you see the "old-timers" sorting their rounds like mechanical octopi.....
But its a fucking great job, sunny day like today, chatting with a few people out and about, right good crack in the office every morning.
Wouldn't change it for the world, never said that about any job before, and never ever stayed in a job anywhere near this long.
And 6 weeks holiday a year too
