That was the book that got me into physics, well the recommendation to read that book after going to space camp in america is really what got me into it. Great book, I recommend that every living person on earth reads The Elegant Universe!!!

As has been pointed out this is getting a bit heavy for a Sunday afternoon.
Kittens sound like a good idea, we can agree on their cuteness without any argument I should think.
Gonna watch Robert De Niro DVD shortly called 'Red Lights'.
My mate got it so I know nothing at all about it.
 
Quantum entanglement is real enough, the quantum teleportation world record was recently broken.

The idea that particles can be in every possible state until observed scuppers parallel universes for me, since I've already opened my eyes and been landed with this particular universe.

something radical must account for quantum data showing matter having the ability to communicate/exert influence/interact over vast distances, instantly and seemingly faster than light or if you prefer - existing in a flux state of more than one possible form until observed.. the latest quantum stuff remains a mystery and we still seem to be missing a rather large piece of the puzzle overall

No, they've not been shown to be true. They've simply not been falsified.

For practical intents and purposes, we can treat evolution as true, but philosophically it's simply the best theory we have which has not been falsified.

In other, far less interesting news, ancestry.co.uk has military records free to view today so decided to have a mooch. Turns out whilst my Mum's grandad fought in the first world war, further familial probing led to the revelation that my great granddad on my Dad's side dumped my granddad and his Mum and fucked off to start a new family. Wondered why they didn't talk about him much. Shame cos I'd like to know a bit more about that side of the family, where my surname's from and shit.

I said nothing of sitting complacent. There is much forward thinking in physics and hypothesising the possibility of a multiverse or "before" the big bang are probably the most exciting areas of the subject, far beyond my meagre cognitive abilities at the best of times, let alone on a come-down.

But, if there were a theoretically infinite number of possible universes, surely the differences between them would be related to physical properties such as another universe where gravity was stronger. I'm not saying another universe where hitler won the war doesn't exist, but in regards to the universe as a whole WW2 was a fairly insignificant event.

Mugz went on Space Camp. There's an online diary from his time there! Photos of girls he met and stuff. Fucking great journal. I, for some bizarre reason, didn't save the link....I'm gonna find the fucker though :)
