If they were drafted I obviously respect them, it's people who willingly join the forces to do a well paid job who expect "hero" status that annoy me
 
I spoke to someone who'd recently got back from duty in afghanistan and he said he quit the military as soon as he got back because none of them knew what the fuck they were doing there anymore and the violence was just senseless.

Of the millions that have died in the wars of the last 100 years or so the those you speak of make a very small minority. Don't misunderstand me I have no stomach for war but the overwhelming majority of those that have lost their lives are not the ones to blame for the futility of it all.

Even in the case of WWII, of which I am no expert I still view it as all our responsibilities, I could easily have seen this nation electing to place a evil man like Hitler into power on the back of his hateful and divisive rantings.

The world should stand in shame on such days....no one is innocent

I was born there, talked with aunts and cousins in Damascus on Skype the other week, they said a car bomb had just gone off in their street, shit is so messed up there it's not even funny. One of my aunties works for the government and she has to show up at work every day no matter how bad the security situation is or else she's be branded a traitor and the whole family would get done. Bad thing is my family is from the Christian minority so if Assad falls they'll probably be in trouble as the country is likely to turn into some Sharia-law sunni islamic state. It's insane when you know the current rulers are criminal but those who will follow will probably out do them in terms of violence.
 
ahh remberance day.. remembering and giving respect to those who have fought and died for this country, those who have returned having lost their limbs, psychological trauma, etc... war is bullshit. endless gratitude to all the people who stopped that nutcase Hitler from taking over... the world would have ended up such a different place

ceres - surely you know the people fighting the government in syria so viciously are all hardline angry islamic beheaders. yknow the same type of pleasant folks who shoot girls in the head in pakistan and stone them in iran


you can tell this by the fact they film themselves shooting rockets and shouting allahuakhbar when people die

It's pretty bad the way the politicians and media here are still talking about 'rebel fighters' and 'armed opposition' and still sending money and other support they have no idea who's hands it's ending up in, it's like they're in denial about what the whole thing has turned into and what the possible consequences could be, after being so eager to get NATO involved for another cakewalk 'regime change'.

Morning eadd, was mainly pleasantly zonked all night with various wake-ups and feel amazing this morning, already on my 3rd cup of coffee though. Its my brothers birthday today though so ima take him some headphones he wanted and a bottle of whiskey round to nurse his hangover, then i think we're off out for a meal later, should be a good sunday :D, gonna stay away from mine for a few days too, curb my opiate use before it gets out of hand like. And see my 2 week old niece! she's proper adorable =D. Now let us pretend to shut up for 2 mins in remembrance of our fallen bretherin

These jeans are smelling pungent after weeks of drug abuse. Blood, piss/bodily fluid & food stains from various people/things. The list goes on...

Ha a regular problem for normal people, pick it up, smell it and chuck it aside if it doesnt smell right, repeat until you find a pair that are 'clean'! Those ones you're wearing do sound a bit dirty. The joys of a 1 man bachelor pad eh?
Best of luck with it cornish, i cant even be bothered making myself excuses and breaking them anymore i just go into 'fuck it' mode and keep going till i'm down, so i'm gonna stay with family for a few days away from access, sort my head out a bit too, see my little neice and take stock of whats important :)

The stuff about parallel universes? That isn't shit, it's pretty much scientific fact. Anything that can happen will happen, just not in this universe. Yeah, I guess we were lucky to get away with winning the war and not being taken over by the nazis in this world, but there are an infinite amount of universes out there where that didn't happen and where brits are talking german.

I said once in jest "Maybe it would be better if we were all talking German" as you don't have a fucking clue what it would be like so you can't form an opinion on things that haven't happened in this universe unless you've had the pleasure of somehow travelling to a parallel universe where it did happen and then came back and have something to add. Thought not. Noone knows what we would be living like now if Hitler and his side had won the war, NOONE, so there is really nothing to be said, it would all just be wild speculation.

I'd speculate it would be a bit like it is now in the usa and uk.

Have you read 'The Man in the High Castle" by Philip K Dick, its set after ww2 but the nazis had won.

If these parallel universes are "scientific fact" then can you please show me the evidence. If it's a fact then there will be proof of it as it can't be a fact without proof.
