The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16“This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.” (hebrews)
The new covenant ( promise) was cut with the cross of Christ. It meant that we could receive Gods spirit ( the highest we can possibly be) and be guided by it rather than laws. There was no mistake. Adam and Eve chose to live a life independent of God. When we chose to act from our highest ( love) we are, in a sense, reconciled to God . (IMO)
