Hi B & W glad you had a good holiday.

You missed a corker at the Gate on Saturday despite the loss. Do you sit in the Ateyo from the pic you posted it looked like it . That is all seaon tickets i thought.

Values eh, whut's all them fings abart then? let's keep fings real, and simple eh?

They're a set of moral guidelines that stem from the right choices we have made as society or individuals. I dont think we need a set of rules written or unwritten. We each have a conscience and know instinctively the right or wrong thing to do in any given situation. The choices we make build not only the person but also the society we live in. Thankfully we still live in a country where it is considered wrong to take photos of a woman who is half dressed without her consent.
The guy that took those photographs must have been some kind of sociopath, he has completely humiliated the Duchess of Cambridge..She's got to be mortified. Worse still are the publishers and editors of Closer magazine making thier euros on the back of this sad and insulting invasion of the womans privacy. They're fucking animals imo.

****

I must be late then. I was coming on before you a few months ago. I thought I was feeling especially bleuch this morning

Or maybe just an opportunist looking to earn a crust, perhaps?

Not saying it's 'morally' laudible by any means, but to call him a sociopath is pretty excessive, to put it mildly.

She openly embraces the same celebrity culture that she's fallen foul of on this occasion. This culture involves invasion of privacy as routine. You reap what you sow.

I'm not saying it's right; far from it. Just like SHM says, the whole affair reflects badly on western values.

my comments were more inspired by the following, which interests me more than the press values thing tbh, not that that isn't interesting or relevant either tho <3
Popular Western magazines are bringing out special editions so we can see Kate Middletons tits from a blurred picture taken a mile away.

This gives me just a little more understanding the next time Al Queda bomb the shit out of something in disgust at western decadence.

THIS!!! said the exact same (Well more along the lines of' this is the end of western civilization as we know it, and you wonder why Al queda do what they do)

Er, I'd just like to reiterate what my point was about the pictures of Kate Middleton. I don't give a toss for the Royals or how it affects them. I just think people (and BCF seemed to understand) should think for a second about exactly what the following sentence says about our (western) society.

Certain popular magazines are bringing out a special edition exclusively for us to look at Kate Middleton's nipples as seen through a blurry long lens from a mile away

And if Dans right, that this is because it is what we allegedly want, then that makes it probably the most damning statement on western values I think I can ever recall.

(I owe you a pm brimz, haven't forgotten, just been a generally grumpy cunt atm, and avoiding inflicting myself on fellow humans )

[edit] erm forgot ... morning everyone! ...

It would be opportunistic to nick an old ladies handbag too wouldnt it?

Brimz.. no i didnt.. my sodding car is playing me up again. grrr Its been leaking oil, which i've been in denial about for a few months, and finally gave up the ghost Sunday morning.

Best coffee shop I've been to was this Rastafarian-themed one on a canal, can't remember the name of it, but they had all rasta flags outside and most of the customers were speaking dutch

Edit: wait I might have photos of it, will look to see if I can identify the name

Is it called Rasta Baby? I can vaguely remember a place called that, with a big fat stoned cat wandering about.

^^ I read both yours and BCF's comments yesterday and had mental <3's with em ... and then watched the continuing dramasaga of PTCH's indignation at the double standards of the press and lawled.

Values eh, whut's all them fings abart then? let's keep fings real, and simple eh?

(still suffering from PMT so not posting much to avoid making crotchety posts .. urgh day 32)

What do you mean by that? I'm sure all I said was something along the lines of "If you don't want photographed outside with your baps out don't go outside with your baps out". Maybe I said something else that I can't remember but I don't think so.

YPDH - Are you really comparing stealing a woman's handbag to taking a picture of a famous person with no t-shirt on? C'mon to fuck.

Would it not be "opportunistic" to buy a cheap fire alarm & punt it for £150? You sociopath!

I wouldn't say kate middleton courts or uses the press. She's not or never wanted to be a celebrity, she's just doing her 'job', one that I don't envy. I think Diana did, which is what caused her ultimate demise, so i can't blame her son for being so angry.

I dont think our society endorses that kind of invasion of privacy. There are people who will attempt to take photos of people in the privacy of their own homes..they are complete wronguns and no better than peeping toms.

I'd describe the photographer as a sociopath because he clearly had no conscience over what he was doing.

Er, not knocking you YPDH but don't you believe in the Bible, God, Moses, Tablets etc? You saying God made a misjudgement? :)

That aside, I too have wondered exactly how, legally, taking a photo like this differs from the crime of peeping-tommery. A great word I just made up.

She was outside. Fair enough she was in a private garden, but she was not "in the privacy of her own home". She was in France, in a garden, with her tits out, near a road (apparently, I don't know how true the 'near a road' bit is).

Has anyone ever seen any dodgy photos of the queen? Have they fuck. Ironically enough, the queen seems to have some common sense.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a good thing that these photographers do shit like that, but I'm well aware that they do. If you are that much in the spotlight you should be hyper-aware of this sort of thing.

To be fair though, she should have just done a Harry & basically said "& what?" then let everyone forget about it. It's not like it tarnishes her reputation in any way at all, she's just a young girl on holiday trying to get a tan.

Maybe not, but she's complicit in the way her image is managed, though I appreciate it's (to an extent) a 'job'. She could attempt to opt out of certain aspects of that 'job' if she so wished. And may well do so now.

Why do people buy celebrity mags by the dozen if there isn't a demand for this kind of thing? That's 'our society', and clearly it endorses such invasions of privacy. I don't condone it; that's just the way things are.

Erm... quite.

Can't see the relevance though, as she wasn't in her own home. Nor can I see why this makes the offending photographer a 'sociopath' rather than just a guy who saw an opportunity to make money.

Exactly true. Sadly enough there is a massive demand for this sort of thing. The magazine that published it would have been well aware it would cause a shit storm & they will already have cash set aside for any potential pay off resulting from a court case. It's a calculated risk by them, knowing that the extra publicity/magazine sales will be worth any potential fines etc.

Cool, so let's discuss the above in relation to the point made by SHM re Western values/decadence and Al Queda etc. Far more interesting, the other stuffs a done deal already (for me anyways ... long lens perv photography and celebporn is nasty and not worth defending ).

^ I agree with all that.

But I think its William that's pissy, cos of what happened with his mum. maybe it was a knee jerk, nip it in the bud type reaction. She was very brave to agree to marry him, it can't have been an easy decision and he probably just want to protect her & his marriage as much as he can.
