A bad workman always blames his tools.

I bet it's always the defibrillator’s fault when someone pops their clogs too. ;)

It's whoever's using them. Have you not seen the moving pictures? That's why the bloke always has to rub them together before he uses them :p

I am glad this came up though because it reminded me of this:

Haha!! Yeah unfortunately this isn't ER and defibs don't look like that nowadays...
Cant be arsed to attach a pic but if you Google lifepack 15 that's what we have nowadays....it's just two little sticky pads on the chest attached to a wire attached to a machine...and unfortunately people don't jump up in the air when you press shock either.....

Damn you television!!!!! :)

Whose job is it to charge them up?? 8o

Technically the first person on the vehicle at the start of the shift should check the lifepack batteries and make sure there are spares and the previous crew should leave a note of they are low....

TECHNICALY the titanic shouldn't have sunk either though......

Telly isn't real!!!! 8o

Was talking about this earlier actually. What people actually believe because of television and movies rather than simply look it up! I had a friend that used to watch medical vids on youtube constantly!!! Odd since they weren't even in that field.

You do shout "CLEAR!" though, don't you?

Not really...usually say shocking.. Top middle bottom which is a check that nothing is touching the person at any point. Basically the one giving CPR should press shock as he's the one with his hands on the person and the one who's most likely to accidentally shock himself..

Plus if the machine is set to semi-automatic (which I always.do).. Itvwas analyse the cardiac rhythm and either say "shock advised" or "no shock advised".. If the other person hasn't got the sense to hear a machine say "shock advised " and his mate say "shocking... Top...middle.... Bottom" and still has his hands on the person then he deserves to be shocked if he's that stupid really

I bet it was actually 'medical' vids on redtube. Plenty of nurses and specula (at least in Japanese medical videos).
