Gibberings CLXXVIII - Too skanky for your tastes?

I think this is going to have to be one of those "agree to disagree" type scenarios.

Evey - I'm not trying to offend you sweetheart. I wouldn't do that. I don't think anyone else is either. I personnally just don't believe in that kind of thing and I find some aspects of it disturbing especially when so called "mediums" prey on vulnerable people for personal gain. Especially when they are laughably fake.

I agree that some prey on vulnerable people yes but not all of them do. Yeah we'll agree to differ - and you've not offended me, England. All's good.

I never had to deal with any of that. When I was painting & decorating I'd only take Meph when I knew I had the next day off. My boss would usually let me know what days I'd be working once a week, so wasn't to hard to do.

I did go into Uni once or twice for seminars on a comedown... brutal but certainly no 5:20 start. 8(

In the nicest possible sense, I don't think half the regulars give two fucks what you're harping on about, especially when it's seemingly just gullible / self-serving nonsense.

So let me get this right, what Evey says must be true because you say so ...you've done nothing to convince anyone there :D

IME perception and interpretation are very subjective things, it's always in retrospect that people seem to find these 'premonitions' vindicated and they almost always seem to think they are 'special' in some way.

Evey, im not trying to hurt your feelings, you can believe what you like. If you're going to put stuff out there like that you have to be prepared for people to call you out on it though.

I dont quite see how, Ignorance is bliss but knowledge is power quite fits into this??

This does though. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
 
I never said I'm special, Alein, far from it. I said I have been given a 'gift' it doesn 't make me better than anyone in fact it 's not a it's cracked up to be as every nightmare I have im tormented as to whether it's a warning or jusr a nightmare. Ive no way of distinguishing them. Accept that the messages I 've received tend to be telepathic.

It wasn't aimed specifically at you, it was a generalisation, you're far from the first person I've come across that makes such claims.

In fairness to my comment many people would would interpret the line 'I've been given a gift' as the same as thinking you're special given you assertion is not everyone has been granted this 'gift'

I'm not taking the piss with that comment, there are standard assessment questionnaires for those with mental health issues and one of the questions I've seen time and time again is along the lines of ' have you ever felt you have magical powers' . Whilst I've been 'wonky' in a variety of ways it's not something I've ever suffered with.

I'm not suggesting that anyone claiming 'special' or 'gifted' insight is mentally ill just that it is clearly a recognised symptom of mental health issues.

It is funny, Allein, that you picked on Raas' post because he agreed with me n not others who did not?

I don't expect others to agree with me but to Please kindly respect my believes instead of trying to "prove me wrong" so to speak. Faith does not require evidence. Faith is faith. It is believing in something with an open mind.

If i wish to believe that I have been given a gift as opposed to it being merely coincidence then that is my choice to do so. It is, as Allein says, my subjective experience and I cannot and WILL not change a whole lifetime 's worth of belief system because it seems to upset n frustrate people on a drugs forum.

Can't really speak regarding meph comedowns but I'm very famiar with vetting up at 4:30 for a 6:00am to 6:00pm rapid response 999 shift on little sleep and in severe pain. I still love it though.

One thing I have noticed though is that when my pain is bad and I take a hefty dose of my prescribed opiate (be that morphine, oxy, pbyseptone, fentanyl or whatever) I seem to get a good sleep but wake up the next day absolutely fucked. Its as though despite the fact that ive had plenty sleep it hasn't been proper rested sleep. I think opiated sleep is car inferior to natural sleep.......anyone else find this.

I don't think it was 'funny' (whatever you are insinuating with that) at all.

Raas made the most ridiculous assertion that because he both believed you and claims to have had similar experiences that that somehow meant you must be right :?

Now that is total bollox.

You are quite correct in saying that you are entitled to your beliefs, however if you choose to state them here you must accept that people will challenge them, it isnt personal .....even if it is the big bad me ;)

In that case if others haven't experienced similar how can they say I 'm talking bollox? Is that not the same as Raas saying I'm right?

On a different note though...there's a lot of drama here on EADD isn't their? Its a bit different to the OD forums which are basically a lot of miserable yanks complaining that their doctors don't give them enough painkillers.

Plus they just don't get British humour at all.

Thats kind of the point though Evey, most/all of us have thought/dreamt something for it then to actually happen. As dan said, coincidence. Its purely a numbers game, if i had 500 dreams in a year, then 2 actually happened at some point in the future its not a premonition, its coincidence. IMO ;)
