yeah the UK punches massively well over its weight for respected and acclaimed bands and music, from the 60s to the present day, it just seems to be something we are really good at, perhaps 'the arts' in general, for some reason, i have no idea why. Comparable countries like France and Germany just dont produce internationally loved and respected bands, i can only think of Abba, Kraftwerk and Can as very influential non UK/American historical bands. These days though the rest of Europe is catching up, and producing some decent bands. Like Ida Maria, from Norway, for example.

Hmmm, I tend to think that anyone suggesting that people from a particular country or culture are more or less pleasant than anyone else is exactly that, ignorant.

I wouldn't claim to be the most traveled person here but I have visited a fair few countries in the past mainly for work of various sorts. IME people are people, good and bad and all that stuff, in general people are good and kind and pretty much always respond to the same.

I did some work in Poland back in the 90s, only for 3 weeks but I got to meet people and work with them as well as a bit of socialising and found them just the same as anyone else. I also live in an area of the country that has seen a large influx of Polish people and again my experience is they are no different to anyone else.

Surely this is no revelation to the free thinking people of EADD ? some of what I've read verges on the boundaries of racism
